About the role: We are looking to recruit an ambitious and driven Teacher of Religious Studies to join our strong department. At Stationers' Crown Woods Academy you will be part of a large, enthusiastic team of RE specialists who are committed to providing a challenging and knowledge rich curriculum focusing on the diversity of perspectives reflected in the local community. The fact that all students in years 7-11 study RE as part of the core curriculum is testament to the value that the academy places on the subject. RE is highly respected for its central role in developing skills and attributes that will underpin students' development throughout their life. Please note that the successful candidate will either join us for the new academic year in September 2020 or January 2021, depending on the successful candidate's commitments and notice period. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of an academy where teachers are supported and encouraged to develop their classroom practice through a wide range of development opportunities. Our pedagogical approach is based on the latest evidence and research and ensures that teaching is efficient and effective whilst prioritising staff wellbeing. We firmly believe in the value of direct instruction, retrieval practice, low stakes testing and question level analysis in all years as part of an on-going 'close the gap' strategy that proactively eliminates the need for reactive year 11 intervention. Furthermore, the academy's zero tolerance approach to misbehaviour and low-level disruption enables you to focus on delivering high quality teaching in a positive classroom environment that is conducive to learning. The 50 million campus incorporates four home schools each serving 450 students, alongside a range of state-of-the-art resources for sport, the arts and digital communication. This structure has enabled us to build an academy where every pupil is able to achieve their full potential. An academy where no child feels lost and no child is left behind. An academy where the bonds between parent, teacher and child are strong. As part of The Leigh Academies Trust we are able to offer even further scope for collaboration, developing best practice, staff investment and training opportunities at both classroom and leadership level. If you would like to join us then apply if you have: * Commitment to highly effective classroom practice based on evidence and research * Belief in the central role of a broad and inclusive RE curriculum * Knowledge and experience of teaching RE * High expectations of all students Working with Leigh Academies Trust: As of January 2020, our Trust is comprised of 25 geographically organised academies (11 secondaries, 13 primaries and 1 special) educating over 15,000 students, and employing over 2,500 talented staff.
