Job Description
Summary: Mitsubishi Power Services Ltd is looking for a mechanical Engineer with manufacturing qualification and experience. This position will be responsible to support the development and manufacture of castings and fabricated components associated with the Energy industry. This role will be based in the Engineering services department of London office and. Its primary focus will be on re-engineering and manufacturing of turbine components. This successful candidate needs to expand a solid foundation and enhance capability and experience for a wide range of product development activities, across the EMEA region. Job Description: * Support the operation and maintenance of large gas turbines, steam turbines including as accessory systems from major manufacturers * To develop repair procedures for Gas and Steam turbine forgings and castings and fabrications and prepare technical spec RFQs and POs to supplier and partners. * Preparation of drawings, designs and procedures for welding or tooling to facilitate any repair and improvement or counteraction * Evaluate mechanical GT and ST products by designing and conducting research programs including scanning and modelling * Defines manufacturing processes to meet specification in fabrication, forging, casting and finishing of components to meet product requirements researching, designing, modifying, and testing manufacturing methods and equipment; conferring with manufacturing vendors. * Assures component durability and process quality by designing testing methods; testing finished- product and process capabilities; establishing standards; confirming manufacturing processes. * Provides manufacturing decision-making information by collating production, material and vendor costs; reviewing production schedules from supply chain; and prepares product and process reports by collecting, analysing, and summarizing information and trends. * Provides manufacturing engineering information by answering questions and requests as required. Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed. * Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies. * Travel to customer or site locations to support unplanned/forced outages or inspect and evaluate components requiring repair and to attend review meetings. Prepare technical repair reports for Customers ensuring the timely communication of significant issues or developments. Person Specification: * Bachelors or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with manufacturing * A proven track record of experience relevant to the manufacture of components for power plant turbine applications * Track record of vendor relationships with supply chain relevant to the manufacturing of casting and fabricated component's * Strong written and spoken business English required to lead meetings and design briefs * Demonstrable competency in specification development * Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team with people with different cultures and nationalities. Knowledge of Japanese would be an advantage but not essential. * Conversant in CAD Software eg SolidWorks or Creo, Computational modelling and Microsoft business software
