* Contentious Probate Solicitor * Blackburn * Competitive Salary & Generous Employee Benefits The Firm * Top 200 Law Firm * Full Service Firm * Multi Office Firm The Role * The management of a caseload of specifically Contentious Wills and Probate cases within the Private Client Department under the supervision of the head of department and assist with advice to non-contentious practitioners within the department on cases they are working on. * You should be able to manage these caseloads with confidence, knowledge and expertise in line with the company's exceptional customer service standards. * Within this role you will have a diverse and vast client base, acting on behalf of estates, beneficiaries and executors in both their defence and bringing a claim on their behalf. * You will be responsible for, bringing and defending applications under various acts of the law, application for goods to be delivered by executors, instruction on evaluation of assets, applications to determine the value of assets in court, bringing and defending claims on behalf of the estate, providing advice to clients before a claim is commenced, as well as other responsibilities * You will be expected to work on your initiative; you will gain high levels of autonomy and will be supported within a transparent career development path. The role will demand an ability to manage a high workload. Innovation and an ability to perform in a fast paced and every changing environment is essential. Principal Accountabilities * Attendance with clients initially to obtain instruction and further during the course of the matter. * The preparation and drafting of the necessary correspondence and orders. * Liaison with clients, third party solicitors, appropriate barristers, experts, hospitals and other agencies in connection with each matter. * Overall responsibility for the organisation of correspondence and documentation ensuring proper file and case management are applied. * The organisation of the necessary payments and receipts on each matter in conjunction with accounts. * Using best endeavours to attain annual fee and billable hours. * Observation of practice procedures in respect of client care and file review systems, the choice of experts, the central diary and the registration of undertakings. * Carrying out any necessary research to supplement case details. * Ensuring compliance with company practices and procedures. Job knowledge, Skills & Experience * The ability to run an effective diary system * Experience of dealing with specifically Contentious Wills and Probate over a period of 18 months or more * Excellent customer service skills * Excellent telephone manner * Excellent fact finding skills * Assertiveness and a determination to "get things done" * Good organisational &interpersonal skills * Good oral communication skills * Be PC literate having a basic knowledge of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) * Be a good 'People' person and work well as part of a team. * A working knowledge of PROCLAIM would be an advantage * The ability to work effectively under pressure
