Immigration Solicitor Manchester Competitive Salary My Client is looking for an Immigration Solicitor to focus on both personal and business immigration for their Manchester office. You will be joining a department in which there are two solicitors and a caseworker all accredited by Law Society on the Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme as a Senior Caseworker (Level 2). * The firm undertake work in all matters for immigration and asylum. * The firm undertake their own advocacy wherever possible. * The core focus of this role will be developing and conducting privately funded immigration work. * There is an existing caseload of personal immigration matters. The Candidate You will be ambitious and driven wishing to work with colleagues who will give you the best possible support to grow your expertise to the highest level. The candidate will ideally have expertise across the full range of visa applications including; * Tier 1, 2, 4 and 5 Visas * Visit Visas * Family Visas * EU and EEA Matters * Asylum and Refugee Law * Indefinite Leave to remain * British Citizenship * Licenses and Visas Essential Requirements Academic qualifications / experience: * Qualified solicitor 1-3+ PQE. (applications from candidates with demonstrable equivalent experience and qualifications - IAAS or OISC - may be considered) * Undergraduate degree in any discipline: minimum 2:1. * 12mths+ experience of running a private immigration client caseload Practice skills: * Ability to interview clients, take their instructions and advise them. * Ability to communicate clearly & effectively in oral and written English - to advise clients, make written representations. * Ability to prioritise own workload - in a busy and deadline driven environment * Ability to deal effectively with bureaucracy - such as the Home Office and the Legal Aid Agency * Ability to conduct research, both legal and evidential * Ability to use IT systems, be self-servicing in respect to document production and learn new IT skills as required * Time management skills - to manage your time effectively and record time spent. * Maintaining accurate time costing procedures * Ability to understand and apply the Legal Aid Agency's rules and practice pertaining to funding (if you wish to do legal aid work) and the ability to deal confidently with private clients in respect to costs. * The ability to bill fees to the value of three times your salary each year. * Commitment to a long-term career Desirable requirements: * Accreditation as a Senior Caseworker (Level 2) under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme * Accreditation as a Senior Caseworker (supervisor) under the Law Society Immigration and Asylum Accreditation Scheme * Existing links with and/or ability to establish new work streams * Knowledge of Proclaim case management system * Advocacy skills * 3yr + experience in immigration law
