An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Shift Engineering Managerto join our flagship site in Wakefield on a 42 hrs per week continental shift pattern basis. Reporting to the site Automation Engineering Manager you willstrive to deliver best practice, world class engineering standards and support the operation to deliver business needs. You will manage the day to day activities of the Automation Engineers, Facilities Engineer, Flow associates, Third Party Engineers and facilities Contractors. Main duties will include: + Day to day leadership of shift members including prioritisation and allocation of workload; deploying labour based on the demands and requirements of the task against the competency and capability of resource. + Working closely with Shift Operations Managers, and other support teams on a daily basis to ensure direction of labour, and planned engineering activities fully support our Operation. + Assessment of engineering team skills and assisting in up skilling and training of staff, including integration of first line maintenance of plant and equipment. + Attend the daily crew production meetings + Review and optimisation of shift cover. + Management and development of department processes; including shift handovers, briefs, and defect reporting/resolving + Maintain and improve performance to maximise efficiency of operation in line with KPIs + Involvement in disciplinary issues in conjunction with the HR Team, involvement in recruitment and training of subordinate staff. + Maintain and promote good employee relations on site, ensuring potential problems are dealt with at an early stage. Required skills and qualifications: + Good technical ability relating to automation hardware and software, this may include, but is not limited to: HNC Engineering or equivalent; Engineering Technician Apprenticeship; Or Electrical and/or mechanical skills preferably gained in an FMCG background to at least NVQ 3 + Experience at a management or senior supervisory level within an automated environment + Good organisational ability and the ability to plan and prioritise. + Sound analytical skills with an eye for detail; good problem solving ability and a practical approach. + Excellent communicator with the ability to analyse and impart knowledge. + Comprehensive understanding of production, picking and storage MHE systems, gained from experience in an automated environment. + Ability to lead from the front, driving pace accuracy and standards. + As part of this be competent and experienced as an Engineer in own right, either mechanically or electrically Up for the challenge?
