Consultant in Geriatric Medicine (Older Adult and Frailty) Salary: £82,699 (GBP) to £109,849 (GBP) (pro-rata if applicable) Tenure: Permanent (0.8 wte) Location: Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, Renfrewshire Relocation Package available (where appropriate) NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is the UK's largest provider of acute hospital, primary, community and mental health care services. With a total budget of £3.2 billion and a workforce of around 39,000 staff it serves an immediate population of 1.2 million plus provides specialist regional services to more than half of Scotland's population. The geographical area covered is diverse; from the major city of Glasgow, large and small towns, villages and some rural districts; and encompasses 6 local authority areas from East Dunbartonshire to Inverclyde. Our Acute Services are delivered currently from three Sectors covering North Glasgow, South Glasgow and Clyde and three Directorates with cross site responsibilities covering Women and Children's Services, Regional Services and Diagnostics and Imaging. Inpatient and outpatient Acute and Medicine for the Elderly services are delivered across 9 sites which include Acute teaching hospitals of which the state-of-the-art Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and the Royal Hospital for Children are co-located on one of the largest hospital campuses in the UK and one of the most advanced in Europe. Our recently approved 'Moving Forward Together' Blueprint will develop and deliver health and care services to meet the current and future needs of our population and will enable a clear plan for change to be taken forward making the Scottish Government's vision for health and social care a reality. It is an exciting time for NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde as we embark on this transformational change programme with a focus on integration, prevention and self management and the development of clinical networks across hospitals and into the community. We are now seeking to appoint, on a permanent basis, to 1 Consultant post based at the Royal Alexandra Hospital (RAH), in Paisley. The RAH provides a full range of District General Hospital Specialties with excellent support facilities including a first class modern radiology department and services. We also have a major commitment to education and close links with Glasgow University and there is an active undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme. We are seeking highly motivated, innovative, experienced and enthusiastic consultant to join a well established and friendly Consultant team providing services for frail elderly people across the Renfrewshire area which comprises both urban and rural populations. The post holder will have a lead role in the assessment and management of frail elderly patients. Reviewing patients in receiving areas, the post holder will provide a leadership to the Older Adult Assessment Unit. Within this role you will be one of a team of 9 Consultants supported by a dedicated team of specialist nursing staff who are committed to improving the patient pathway to promote and deliver high standards of patient care, outcomes, experience, safety and quality. The recruitment process will include supporting sub specialty interests. The Older People and Stroke team also participate in on call duties our of hours and work 1 in 8 weekends alongside a team of Advance Nurse Practitioners (ANP) and Junior staff.
