Job Description

Description XenZone is on a mission to use technology to create a lifetime of mental wellness for all. We're looking for a Lead Full-stack Engineer to join our rapidly growing, Monument-based engineering team and help us create an R&D lab that builds tools for mental wellness. We are pioneers of online counselling and support. In 2005, we launched Kooth, the first online counselling service in the UK for children and young people, later followed by Qwell, our service for adults. Together, these two services help over 50,000 people every month. We're in a period of ideation and planning; we see an opportunity to build on our existing services and shape a whole new domain that could fundamentally redefine society's approach to mental wellness. You're a Full-stack Javascript Developer looking for an opportunity to join a positive, growing team that cares about the same things as you; TDD, software engineering excellence and stemming the rising tide of anxiety and depression in our society. You want to * Regularly release great software * Have the freedom to experiment with the latest tech (we're already using XMPP, TensorFlow and TypeScript) * Work in a complex, regulated domain that's ripe for disruption * Have all the fun of a startup in a company with 16 years of revenue and success * Be part of and help create an engineering environment that gets the best out of technologists * Bring your skills to work on meaningful products rather than moving data around a bank or helping people order food while they binge-watch Netflix Requirements We want to hear from you if * You love services and RESTful APIs * You've worked with JavaScript (ES2016), React and Redux on the frontend * And TypeScript, Node, PostgreSQL, Google Cloud Platform and Kubernetes on the back * You've shipped world-class products in a regulated industry (eg. fintech or healthtech) * You've been in a leadership role on an engineering team and want to do that again, but only if you get to keep writing code * And you're looking for a pragmatic, agile/lean environment where people take responsibility and get things done Benefits XenZone work with a massively diverse set of user needs, thinking about the future of mental health. We believe the more inclusive we are, the better our products and services will be. To do that, we've created an environment where everyone can bring their whole selves to work, and we welcome applications from all. Our engineering team is currently 72% people who are historically underrepresented in tech and we welcome applications from all. Because of the nature of our business, this position is subject to a successful Disclosure and Barring Service check as part of our recruitment process. Our benefits include your birthday off, pension and cycle schemes, healthcare cash plan and flexitime.
