Job Title: Domestic Assistant School / Directorate: Estates & Campus Facilities Advert: Domestic Assistant - Part time We will be looking for enthusiastic, positive and reliable individuals, in the near future , to provide an effective domestic service on a student residences site. Various posts, depending on availability, ranging on average between 16 - 18 hours - Monday - Friday. Salary: 16,420 - 17,361 per annum, pro rata for hours worked (Grade 1). Please note we are a living wage employer and will pay the minimum of 9.00 per hour. Post Reference Number: 5681BR Job Description: MAIN DUTIES * To clean designated areas in student residences, i.e. study / bedrooms, bathrooms, communal areas, kitchens, toilets, showers, corridors, foyers, stairs, landings, windows, walls, lifts, TV rooms to ensure they are kept in a clean and hygienic condition, including carpet shampooing, where applicable . * To clean bar, administrative offices, service rooms and equipment, where applicable. * To use the most appropriate approved cleaning equipment and materials, moving furniture and cookers / fridges as required in order to clean all designated areas. * To defrost fridges / freezers where directed. * To provide a service as required - changing bed linen, taking bed linen to / from a central storage area; removing refuse and servicing rooms, kitchens, bathrooms. * To carry necessary cleaning materials and equipment from area to area, ensuring they are kept in a clean and safe working order. * To remove refuse and dispose of it in the appropriate receptacles. * To report any damage and / or maintenance needs to the supervisor. * To attend and actively participate in all basic training as identified in the Division's Training Matrix. * To identify your personal training needs in conjunction with your manager, ensuring that learning is transferred to the workplace. * To adhere to relevant Health, Safety / Hygiene working practices and legislation, using only cleaning materials and equipment provided by the Division. * To be aware of and to report any potential workplace / personal hazards to health and safety. * To actively participate in the Division's Quality and Customer Care initiatives. * To take reasonable care for the health and safety of yourself and of other persons who may be affected by your acts or omissions at work in accordance with the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974, EC directives and the University's Safety, Health and Environment Policies and procedures and to cooperate with the University on any legal duties placed on it as the employer. * To ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements in respect of equality and diversity, data protection, copyright and licensing, security, financial and other University policies, procedures and codes as appropriate. * To provide a service to customers during arrivals/departures, conferences and other busy periods which may be within other residences and may involve working additional or unsociable hours. * You may be asked to perform other duties occasionally which are not included above, but which will be consistent with the role. Salary Range Max.: 17,361 Grade: Grade 1 Salary Range Min.: 16,420 Job Category: Catering & Hospitality Additional Information: CAMPUS FACILITIES DIVISION The Campus Facilities Division provides the key services of residences, catering and bars, sport and Day Care, to students, staff and visitors at Cardiff University. The Campus Facilities operation is supported by its own central administration functions covering the allocation of residences, human resource and quality, conferences, purchasing, facilities, information technology, finance, and general administration. As part of the Division's activities, it manages residences places for approximetely 5,500 students, both catered and self-catered. In terms of catering, there are fourteen coffee shops and four restaurants conveniently located across University campuses. Both residential and catering facilities are utilised for conferences and functions during the University's vacation periods.
