Job Description Contract Type: Fixed Term Contract for Minimum 3 Months Hours: Flexible - Various Shift Patterns Available Salary: 10.75 per hour Your new role as a Patient Catering Assistant will include the following duties: * Ensures the kitchen is maintained, i.e. stock rotation, recording fridge temperatures, defrosting fridge/freezers etc. * Prepares food such as vegetables for the cook or chef as required and ensures all food is stored safely and at the correct legal temperatures. * Loads meals onto trolleys in readiness for wards and other parts of the hospital * Ensures all meals are delivered to necessary wards in a timely manner and in compliance with Trust regulations. * Hygiene is a priority, ensuring that all tables and work surfaces are clear & clean, ensuring rubbish is regularly removed from areas and in the correct waste streams. * Maintains vigilance for pests & reports any non-conformance to the Manager * Undertakes cleaning duties including floors, wall surfaces and equipment adhering to COSHH guidelines. * Reports any safety deficiencies, incidents, near misses, ill health and environmental incidents to their manager. * Undertakes additional duties as required by their supervisor in line with capabilities. Qualifications * Food safety level 2 preferred, must be available to undertake mandatory training at short notice to comply with food safety * Prepared to work in a refrigerated environment. * Standing mostly with manual handling & some bending/stretching and heavy lifting required. * Good understanding of numeracy, understands principles of stock-take and stock control * Has a good level of both written and spoken English skills with an excellent attention to detail Additional Information Health and Safety responsibilities Follow Group and company policies and procedures always; Report any apparent deficiencies in systems of work or equipment provided that may result in failure of service delivery or risk to health and safety or the environment; Use all work equipment and personal PPE properly and in accordance with training received; Report any issues or training needs to your Line manager and /or via your divisional incident reporting system; Information Security Ensure compliance with Mitie's information security procedures in all activities; Proactively identify and report security risks to your manager; Report actual and suspected security incidents; Note This job description Is intended to give the post holder an appreciation of the role envisaged for this position and the range of duties undertaken. Specific tasks and objectives will be agreed with the post holder throughout the period of employment.
