In return, we'll help you build a career that you can feel passionate about. Job Summary We are seeking a Sr. Logistics Services Specialist to be located in Europe, ideally in the UK or Netherlands. BASIC SUMMARY:To assist in the development of the Charles River 'Specialist Logistics Services' team, primarily through customer interaction, but also through operations support. Helping build and grow the team to enable the development of the service within the Charles River global site network. Including general support for shipping/logistics operations as an industry expert. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Meet with internal and external customers both virtually and face to face as appropriate to help propagate business via the promotion of 'Specialist Logistics Services' (SLS) Work with Global Account Managers and Business Development representatives to help gain business through the provision of SLS Assist with the creation of Marketing ideas, including but not limited to service flyers and website content Assist customers when they move products through the discovery phase into clinical testing, and ultimately commercialization, with trade compliance advice relating to logistics/shipping documentation and options. Provide expert shipping/logistics advice to customers Assist with the training and supervision of logistics/shipping staff and the greater SLS network. Ensure compliance with all SLS related business practices and forms. Provide service report updates on a weekly basis, and assist in the completion of SLS metrics/logs Ensure compliance with Charles River policies involving all shipping/receiving activities, helping develop them for improved function/efficiency Encourage the provision of outstanding Customer Service, both internally and externally within the logistics team Provide advice/guidance on all areas of 'Shipment Design' involving shipping to and from CRL sites Assist with the update of all relevant permits and licenses relating to commodities exported from or imported to CRL sites Communicate with Regulatory Agencies to ensure compliance Liaise with study Directors/Scientists, Client Services, Finance, Project Coordinators, Facility Management, and outside vendors across all teams to ensure the maintenance of timely and cost-effective services. Assist with conducting vendor audits to assure compliance with relevant regulations and corporate policies and standards. Assist with monitoring and production of service metrics for the logistics department to ensure continual improvement Schedule vendor meetings as appropriate to monitor performance, and review KPIs. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor's degree (B.A. /B.S.) or equivalent in management or related discipline. Master's degree (M.B.A/M.S.) and/or supply-chain management certificate preferred. IATA and ADR training and experience Minimum of 6 years of related experience in domestic and international logistics/transportation practices. Strong experience in interfacing with regulatory agencies (e.g. FDA, USDA, DEA, DOT, NVWA, DEFRA, MHRA and Customs agencies) and internal and external clients. Experience working within a Specialist Freight Forwarder/Courier and a CRO/Biotech facility is preferred.
