Job Description
Greater Manchester Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust, Manchester, Manchester An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated and enthusiastic art therapist to join the inpatient CAMHS service. The Post offers an opportunity to work both at Junction 17 inpatient CAMHS and the Gardener Unit medium secure adolescent CAMHS service. Both services are based at GMMH Prestwich Site. The Art therapist will plan, provide and evaluate Art therapy assessment and treatment/therapeutic intervention to children and young people resident in the inpatient services both individually and in group work. The Art Therapist will be an independent clinician working within the multi-disciplinary teams in both services. Other professionals on the team include Medical staff, Psychiatry and nursing; Occupational therapy, Psychology, Music therapy, Family therapy and Speech and Language Therapy. The Art therapist will assess, formulate and provide art therapy treatment interventions for young people. Both Junction 17 and the Gardener Unit Psychological therapies team base their work on trauma informed practice. The young people and the staff work within a system that understands that the trauma experienced by young people and their families influences the whole system of care arounds them including the wider systems of governance and management. In providing art therapy assessment and formulation the art therapist will contribute to the understanding of the young people through collaboration with other Psychologists and Psychological therapists. The Art therapist will contribute to the Ward Leadership Teams for both Units and work with others on appropriate service development projects.
