A dedicated organization, Human Genetics (HG), has been created to achieve this, harnessing recent scientific advancements with a focus on human-derived data and leveraging external partnerships to translate genetic information to high quality targets, ultimately contributing to better medicines with reduced attrition. We are seeking a manager to support externalization activities for the Human Genetics function during a time of exceptional growth. This role will manage agreements with multiple external partners to support our genetics strategy to deliver genetically validated targets for new medicines. The externalization manager will work in partnership with Human Genetics scientists and internal partners to plan, implement and monitor externalization activities, integrating future requirements for internal infrastructure with externalization plans. Key Responsibilities: * Support Human Genetics to establish efficient and compliant collaborations and data acquisition capabilities that deliver state-of-the-art public and proprietary genetic and clinical data to Human Genetics department releasing resources to drive innovation. * Contribute to the development and drive the implementation of data acquisition strategy including identifying and evaluating data and driving data acquisition. * Drive set-up, due-diligence and contracting for external collaborations with GSK scientists and multiple internal groups. * Plan and monitor progress of projects carried out externally by setting and monitoring key performance indicators. * Support internal scientific program leaders to work effectively with external program teams. * Drive proactive internal resource planning for external collaborations & data acquisition activities. * Ensure appropriate data is transferred from external partners to GSK and standards for data integrity and use are met. * Plan and monitor quarterly external spend and help to build future budgets * Manage select external collaborations including protocol and consent development and disclosure planning. * Ensure efficient operation of the Human Genetics department * Maintain portfolio view of external collaboration and data acquisition activities to drive resource and budget planning, ensure fiscal responsibility and ensure compliance with GSK policies and SOPs. * Monitor and manage studies within internal compliance systems Why you? Basic Qualifications: We are looking for professionals with these required skills to achieve our goals: * Bachelors * 3 years of experience in the management of human genetics studies including knowledge of data generation methods, genetic study design, human genetics informed consent & IRB approval, operations/logistics. * 3 years of experience establishing and leading successful external scientific collaborations with academic and industry partners including contracting, monitoring, governance and publications. Preferred Qualifications: If you have the following characteristics, it would be a plus: * Masters * Ability to solve problems and create innovative solutions to support the advancement of external collaborations (both internally and externally) * Broad knowledge of the drug discovery and development pipeline. * Experience of outsourcing complex work packages to third parties.
