Job Description

pSemi Corporation is a Murata company driving semiconductor integration. pSemi builds on Peregrine Semiconductor's 30-year legacy of technology advancements and strong IP portfolio but with a new mission-to enhance Murata's world-class capabilities with high-performance semiconductors. With a strong foundation in RF integration, pSemi's product portfolio now spans power management, connected sensors, optical transceivers, antenna tuning and RF frontends. These intelligent and efficient semiconductors enable advanced modules for smartphones, base stations, personal computers, electric vehicles, data centers, IoT devices and healthcare. From headquarters in San Diego and offices around the world, pSemi's team explores new ways to make electronics for the connected world smaller, thinner, faster and better. Job Summary Senior characterization and automation engineer capable of developing test hardware and software for characterization of Analog/Mixed-Signal IP circuit blocks and prototypes for CMOS IC products in the area of power management applications. Product lines include various types of DC-DC convertors and power regulators. With adequate understanding of electronic circuit principles, identify measurements required to assess how new designs meet their technical requirements and specifications, then build the hardware setup needed to perform these measurements and automat it with software. The evaluation may be conducted on die, packaged devices or modules. Analyze measured data and report on characterization results. As part of a cross-functional product development team, it is required to work with and support other essential disciplines including design, marketing, applications, project management and production test engineering. This role requires a high level of independence, proactivity and focused action, working directly with other engineers to accomplish characterization objectives of the project in a timely manner. Roles & Responsibilities This position has responsibility for: * Plan the Characterization: Develop a characterization plan based on the new design's product requirement specifications, detail how each parameter in the specifications will be measured and with which instruments. Discuss the characterization plan with stakeholders before execution. * PCB Design: Aid the process of designing a PCB (if required) for the evaluation of a new design, provide detailed input on PCB requirements related to the test conditions and test automation, based on the characterization plan * Build a Setup: Construct a complete measurement system (recommend equipment for purchase/hire, if necessary), include switching, control and synchronization as needed to ensure that as much as possible a complete characterization of a device can be conducted in a single run. * Instrument Automation: Develop instrument control and data collection software to control instrumentation through GPIB, LAN or USB (or other) for automating the defined measurements over all identified conditions. LabVIEW is the preferred automation language and the existing custom test sequencing software tool is the preferred platform. Ensure synchronous behavior between different instruments in the setup and with the device under test. * Data Collection: Gather necessary data and use it to confirm device compliance to specifications. Use statistical methods and software to determine specification and test limits. * Reporting and Documentation: Ensure that the product's characterization process (plan, setup, analysis method and results/conclusions) are documented, according to the corporate standards and templates. Present the characterization results to stake holders and implement feedback as necessary. * Further development: Contribute to the characterization team's efforts on enhancing methodologies towards more efficient practices aimed at improving both speed and quality of the characterization work. Competency Requirements In order to perform the job successfully, an individual should demonstrate the following competencies: * Critical Thinking : Skilled at finding logical flaws in arguments and plans; identifies problems and solutions that others might miss; provides detailed insight and constructive criticism into problems and complex situations * Working with Ambiguity : Achieves forward progress in the face of poorly defined situations and/or unclear goals; able to work effectively with limited or partial information * Displaying Technical Expertise : Keeps his/her technical skills current; effectively applies specialized knowledge and skills to perform work tasks; understands and masters the technical skills, knowledge and tasks associated with his/her job; shares technical expertise with others * Driving for Results: Aggressively pursues challenging goals and objectives; will to put in considerable time and effort to accomplish objectives; takes a highly focused, goal driven approach towards work * Making Accurate Judgments and
