We are looking for highly motivated, enthusiastic and proactive Adult and Paediatric trained nurses/OPD's to join our friendly and supportive team NUH Theatre Recovery spans 2 campuses - QMC and City - and provides care for patients in the immediate post-operative phase for both adult and paediatric patients covering 46 operating theatres following emergency and elective surgeries. Surgical specialties include major trauma, orthopaedics, neurosurgery, hepatobiliary, general surgery, maxillofacial, spinal surgery, eye surgery, ENT, obstetrics, vascular, upper GI, thoracics and burns. Paediatric patients are cared for at QMC and adult renal transplant patients at City. Recovery is a busy and challenging environment offering exciting opportunities for growth and development. Whilst working in Recovery you will have the opportunity to care for patients with varying degrees of dependency at their most vulnerable time. You will care for patients of all ages and cultural backgrounds from all surgical specialities and health acuities. Recovery practitioners care for surgical patients on a 1 to 1 basis, enabling individualised high-quality care to each and every patient. All new staff will have a period of supernumerary time between six to eight weeks depending on individual need. You will work alongside enthusiastic mentors caring for patients of increasing surgical acuity to become competent and confident Recovery Practitioners caring for patients without supervision. All new staff will complete the Trust induction programme, as well as a two day Theatre induction followed by Recovery-specific training and education. Upon joining Recovery you will be expected to complete a number of competency packages to ensure you are proficient in caring for patients with epidurals, PCAs, arterial lines and acute pain management. New staff will be provided with dedicated study time during their supernumerary period to complete all competency packages. Regular seminar days and simulation training will also be provided during this time. Applicants with previous Recovery experience or experience caring for complex patients with epidurals and PCAs are encouraged to apply but full training will be provided.
