The Opportunity A rare and exciting opportunity has arisen for a Trusts and Estates Solicitor to join Stone Kings International & Cross-Border team based in Bath, advising private clients, charities and other solicitors. The successful candidate will relish the opportunity to become a specialist within a team that focusses exclusively on cross-border work and is able to advise on the private international law (conflicts of law) of almost every jurisdiction of the world. Although cross-border knowledge is always welcome, it is absolutely not a prerequisite, because you will receive extensive training in the basic principles of Private International Law from Head of Team, Daniel Harris and thereafter learn the nuances and intricacies of international work on the job, as well as taking part in other formal training, as and when required. Enthusiasm to develop your legal technical knowledge in this exciting area of law and be pro-active with business development are essential. Key Responsibilities General duties include, but not limited to: * Attending clients of the firm in the office (or if appropriate elsewhere). * Dealing with clients referred to you in person and on the telephone. * To ensure that all client work is progressed expeditiously and that the client is kept regularly informed on progress and on costs. * At all times to exercise high standards of client care in a professional and pleasant manner. * To carry out your work for the client to the highest possible standard, having regard to the firms standards & procedures. * To work as part of a team with the other members of the team or other members of the firm where necessary. * To maintain clear and precise communications with other colleagues. * To attend and be involved in preparation for team meetings. * To deal with communications promptly. * To ensure good working relationships with external institutions and organisations. * To be active in promoting the services of the firm and its core values and ethos; to attend and be involved in preparation for marketing events. * To ensure the confidentiality and security of all the firms and clients documentation and information. * To achieve agreed levels of billing and be diligent with time recording. * To comply with the solicitors accounts rules and the rules on the professional conduct of solicitors. Location The role will be based in our Bath office. Please note, due to Covid-19, this role will be predominantly based remotely until restrictions are eased so it is important that the candidate is able to work from home. Requirements Together with the other members of the team, candidates should be prepared to market the cross-border work enthusiastically and be aware of opportunities to promote the Firm and cross-sell other specialisations within the Firm to clients. Specifically, candidates will be expected to assist others within the team with the production of marketing materials, taking part in events and seminars. Candidates will not be expected to necessarily have direct experience of these fields, but marketing is key to the growth of any specialist area and so the successful candidate must have the ability and enthusiasm to be active in these areas. The candidate should be well-organised, technologically proficient and (although supervised) capable of working on their own.
