About the opportunity We are looking for a Community Living Volunteer in our Sandwell network who can give 14 hours per week of 'good neighbour' support to the KeyRing Members who live locally in their own homes within the area. As a Community Living Volunteer you do need to live in the Network area in order to offer the flexible local support and to know the local community resources well. KeyRing can provide accommodation in the Network area if required. About KeyRing Living Support Networks KeyRing is all about listening to and working alongside people in their local communities so that they gain greater independence, improve their wellbeing and are part of a network of contacts and friends. KeyRing provides support for vulnerable people to live independently in their own homes, including housing brokerage and community inclusion. Our support includes structured tenancy related support; good neighbourly help; help with getting to know the community better; and the facilitation of meeting new friends and maintaining such relationships. We work to enable KeyRing Members to take control over their lives, make informed choices and decisions, to create their own personal networks of support, find meaning in their lives and contribute as active citizens. What are they looking for? Community Living Volunteers give advice, information and support to KeyRing Members and help them lead ordinary lives and to make connections in their local community. We are looking for volunteers who can offer support in a flexible and creative way. We are looking for someone with personal qualities such as: common sense, enthusiasm, the ability to motivate others, trustworthiness, reliability, openness to learn, calmness in a crisis. Good communication and interpersonal skills with an ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people, including service users, their families, staff and professionals. This role needs a volunteer who: * Will live within the network area; * Can offer support in a flexible and creative way when needed; * Can offer approximately 14 hours of this support - time spread through the week; * Can see Members in the evenings and the weekends; * Will not mind Members phoning to ask for support or a chat; * Will respond to emergencies (but you are NOT expected to be "on-call"). Volunteering with KeyRing can: * Provide CV enhancing experience. * Help you get to know your local area and meet new people. * Good route into social care.
