Job Description

Debtwire is looking for a driven financial journalist to join its leveraged loan desk as a reporter. If you are already a reporter with some experience at a newswire or trade publication seeking a more challenging role in a fast-paced news desk with a financial focus, this could be the job for you. You will join the leading financial newswire for the fixed income markets, part of Acuris, an established global financial intelligence and data provider. You will be delving into private equity-backed companies by developing contacts with the investor community and analysing companies' financing structures and results. The private nature of the industry means uncovering the information from well placed sources is the first challenge, but you should also have an analytical mind as this is a highly technical market and you will become a market commentator. Focusing on off-diary events, you will need to use your initiative to build relationships with investors and bankers to uncover leads, with the support and on the job training. You will work in a small, collaborative desk, also contributing to the news flow of the larger Debtwire Europe team. European languages are an advantage and you will have the opportunity for foreign travel to meet with sources and moderate at conferences. Candidates with experience in trading, sales or research without journalism experience who would like to make a move into financial journalism will also be considered. The successful candidate will have: Experience in a news reporter role, ideally with a financial focus or; Experience in the financial markets with a proven desire to write or; Experience in a market reporting role. A self-starter attitude with a cooperative approach. An investigative mind and good writing skills; Outstanding networking and contact building skills; Excellent time management and communication skills.
