Job Description
Environment / Asbestos Technician - 22,060 - 29,845 We are BT Property & Facilities Services, we are part of BT Group and we specialise in property and facilities management. Our brilliant team provide a full range of building maintenance services to around 8,000 BT buildings in the UK. The estate varies from commercial offices, telephone exchanges and retail shops. We have an exciting opportunity for an Environment Technician to join us on a permanent basis. The purpose of this role is to deliver onsite technical services to enable the safe management of building risks, including asbestos, hazardous working environments, fire and water hygiene. Duties include: * Undertaking building surveys and inspections to identify risks from hazardous working environments, including asbestos materials, and determining appropriate and effective controls to manage any risks * Undertake air quality monitoring to assess the risks from airborne contaminants, including asbestos, and provide clearance certification in accordance with UKAS standards, where applicable * Supporting remediation and general construction projects, including the provision of technical specifications for tenders and advice to project managers on asbestos matters. * Promotion of good HSE and asbestos safety practice to stakeholders and helping to establish a positive safety culture, and supporting the development of improvements in HSE performance * Establishing and maintaining links with key external agencies and peer organisations to keep up to date with leading practice in asbestos management methodologies. * Promotion and delivery of consultancy services to BTFS clients. * Providing technical advice and support to BTFS colleagues on maintaining compliance with asbestos and hazardous environments and other safety requirements * Supporting the effective maintenance of relevant databases and information systems You... * Experience in a similar asbestos/environmental specialist role * BOHS P402 - Surveying and Sampling Strategies for Asbestos in Buildings * BOHS P403 - Asbestos Fibre Counting * BOHS P404 - Air Sampling and Clearance Testing of Asbestos * Full UK Driving Licence * NEBOSH Certificate in Occupational Health and Safety (desirable) This is a full time, permanent position offering brilliant benefits, including: * 22 days annual leave + 8 days bank holiday * Buy More Leave Scheme * Pension matching up to 4% * Life Assurance 3 X your salary * Share Save Scheme * Yearly salary reviews * BT packages, including BT Infinity Broadband & BT Sport * Internal training programmes * BTFS Perks At work, offering savings on Cinema, Tickets, Utilities, Fashion, Electronic goods and more!
