With an exciting company-wide roadmap, we're looking for an Engineering Manager to coach and develop the team. Powering the new era of financial technology starts with taking ownership, shipping well-tested code, and being driven by empathy. You'll support a brilliant team of Engineers who work with some of the best-in-class technologies including .NET Core to write our API code, Docker and Kubernetes to schedule and run our services, AWS for our infrastructure, ElasticSearch, Redis and more-the best tool for the job wins. As a natural people person, you'll care deeply about nurturing, coaching and mentoring your team. You'll also have direct input on hiring the right talent as we further grow the team. Finally, you'll be a true leader in the business who will both partner with and challenge your peers across the Product and Engineering Teams. As o ur Engineering Manager, you will: * Line manage, coach and develop the Platform Engineering teams. You will care deeply about developing our existing Engineers, growing their skillsets and ensuring their continued career progression; * Work with our Talent team to identify, attract and hire the best engineering talent. As we continue to go through an incredible period of growth, you will play a major role in selecting, onboarding and developing new talent, whilst also maintaining our great existing engineering culture; * Work closely with our CTO, Product Managers and Head of Platform to help design and execute our technology strategy and roadmap. * Support and mentor our Tech Leads as they co-ordinate technical dependencies across the different Product Teams; * Work with the Product Managers to establish a culture and organisational structure where multidisciplinary Product Teams can act autonomously and have full ownership of their product; * Advise Engineers on product delivery and strategy to tackle complex projects, in order to maximise their potential and growth; * Be responsible for driving great execution. You'll work with the Product Managers to enable execution including implementing appropriate processes, setting expectations, managing risks and managing resource allocation; * Promote ownership and accountability, learning and teaching, and a push for the highest standards, in order to cultivate a great culture where team members can do their best work whilst also having fun; * Promote and make a success of our multi-site Engineering team - with team members in London, Italy and Hong Kong; * Help structure the team, establishing goals and KPIs for the team and/or technical scope and orchestrating improvement using root cause analyses, postmortems/retrospectives, etc.. Requirements What we need from you: * 4+ years of experience as an Engineering Manager, leading, scaling and growing productive engineering teams; * Significant past hands-on experience as an Engineer - building, operating and scaling SaaS products; * A solid understanding of the software development lifecycle, with an emphasis on best practices (e.g. testing) and design philosophies (e.g. DDD); * Solid knowledge of Cloud infrastructure and Cloud-native patterns * Experience working with a microservice architecture; * The ability to thrive on a high level of autonomy and responsibility; * Build consensus around your ideas and convey information effectively; * Lead by example, and empower your teammates to do their best work; * Show strong technical knowledge so that you can challenge engineers to make the best architecture and product decisions.
