Location YatH Region Salary 31,875 - 33,732 Per Annum Role Profile Attachment Development Officer - Regional Organised Crime Unit Role Profile.pdf - 583KB Job Advert THE FOLLOWING VACANY HAS BEEN ADVERTISED EXTERNALLY Software Development Officer Yorkshire and Humber Regional Organised Crime Unit (YHROCU) Wakefield One full time post Fixed term post until 30th March 2021 West Yorkshire Police are looking to appoint a Software Development Officer, on a fixed term basis until 30th March 2021, to work with the Regional Cyber Crime Unit based from Wakefield and Rotherham. The Software Development Officer will work under the direction of the Regional Cyber Crime Prepare supervisor developing bespoke software in support of the team and ROCU objectives. You will be responsible for the following outputs: 1. Lead by example and behave in line with the Police Code of Ethics ensuring that the force values and behavioural expectations are clearly understood and considered by managers, officers and staff in their decision making and actions; reinforcing and influencing them through all interactions and processes. 2. Work on own, or within a team designing and developing new or replacement applications/interfaces for use by the police service and its partners. 3. Produce, or assist in the production of the Application Functional Specification and the Technical Specification and subsequently produce program specifications for team members to work to. 4. Utilise design/development tools in accordance with development and documentation standards to create efficient, well documented, reusable code ensuring that ongoing support and future enhancements can be carried out effectively. 5. Debug and test program code, investigate problems and identify solutions to prevent re-occurrence and participate in application testing prior to handover to the relevant team to ensure it meets the user's specification. 6. Conduct coding reviews and propose design changes that will either improve the maintainability, functionality or performance of the solution. 7. Monitor and contribute to professional/expert sources of help, guidance and best practice, e.g. MSDN, Internet discussion groups, to maximise code re-use and ensure that contemporary, industry standard practices and tools are adopted. 8. Assist during the analysis stage of the project as required ensuring that user requirements are understood and met 9. Maintain and support the applications and infrastructure to meet SLA and performance targets. In addition you will have a full current UK/European driving licence and have the ability and willingness to travel around the Region and UK for business purposes and be prepared to successfully undertake management vetting procedures including financial checks. This role will have some capacity to be 'work from home' following suitable induction and experience building process completion however this will be on a case by case basis. You will need to have physical and emotional resilience to deal with abusive and offensive imagery of extreme violence. You will be organised and have a disciplined approach to work with an ability to plan and manage your own workload and have the ability to produce detailed and accurate written reports.
