Job Description

At Florence, we all have a definitive mission - to empower the care sector to work more efficiently in order to provide better quality care. Our online marketplace helps care homes fill rota gaps without the need for expensive recruitment agencies. Launched in 2017, we now work with over 50,000 nurses and carers and over 600 care home locations across England, Scotland and Wales. Nurses and carers have worked almost 1 million hours and earned more than 20million by booking shifts through Florence. We are a growing team of 60+, founded and led by a former doctor-turned-entrepreneur. This is a really exciting time to join Florence and be part of a tech startup that is filled with collaborative, passionate and driven people. As you may have heard (if you haven't you're about to find out), we're on the lookout for our second product designer! We're currently a design team of one so we're looking for someone whos comfortable across the entire design process and therefore happy to get involved from initial research to final execution. Requirements What we are looking for * You can run or want to learn to run a user-centred design process * You believe in user research * You're passionate about your end user and want to go the extra mile for them In this role you'll be asked to * Design for a wide range of problems across multiple user types * Explain your designed solutions and be prepared to back them up with research * Work cross functionally from native mobile to responsive web What we do at Florence We have a mission to become the leading technology platform in social care. We believe that if we achieve our goal, not only will we be improving the lives of every worker in the industry but we will also be enabling them to help those who need their care the most. At present we have three parts to our core product, one internal and two external. Our internal platform allows our customer teams to interact with our care partners and our care workers. Whereas our external platforms are the tools that allow our care partners to post shifts and our care workers to pick them up. Alongside our platform, we're also building out Florence Academy, The National Care Force and Florence Bank. Florence Academy allows us to bring free, certified training to carers and nurses across the country. The National Care Force is a volunteer led organisation aimed at mobilising the country to give help to vulnerable people and organisations through COVID-19. Florence Bank is a brand new tool helping to solve the issues around scheduling with bank staff across the care industry. What we want to do next Obviously we've not reached our goal yet, and there are quite a few things we need to work on to get us there. At the moment we're in the process of designing the building blocks of our design system. Meaning not only will we be able to smoothly transition our applications to React, but we'll also reap the rewards of design consistency through easy-to-use, repeatable components. We're also in the middle of building out our native app experiences on iOS and Android with the intention of having more than 80% of our workers on our core apps by the end of the year. Alongside these projects, we're looking into how we can diversify our product offering. We've already built a free to use training platform for nurses and carers (Florence Academy) so now we're looking into what our users want us to build next.
