Your new role Reporting to the Commercial Delivery Lead you will be responsible for providing commercial management and assurance support within the Smart Motorways Programme (SMP)- the scheme delivering technology driven solutions to tackle congestion, improve journeys and much more! Working closely with the SMP team, project teams and our supply chain you will provide advise on contract administration, cost capture, analysis and commercial performance ensuring the needs of Highways England are protected and compliance is met across a number of schemes valued between 50-800m. This is an exciting opportunity to join a commercial team offering exposure to commercial activities in an Infrastructure environment, plus the opportunity to develop professionally. What you'll be leading on Working on specific projects under the leadership of senior/commercial manager providing commercial assurance and support to internal clients across a range of activities, aiding decision making on commercial efficiencies, provision of advice on contract administration, cost capture, analysis, performance, related intelligence and opportunities for performance improvement Identifying complex problems trends and variances from data sets in order to undertake analysis and engage relevant stakeholders to review options and make decisions for moving forward. Building effective relationships with suppliers and internal customers and develop thorough objectives for successful commercial delivery and sharing best practice in order to achieve a consistent approach for the organisation in line with the core values Ensuring the collection of robust, consistent and objective data, developing robust data capture processes in order to ensure that the correct information is stored, analysed and shared to support decision making Providing and facilitating specialist advice from across the organisation on commercial issues including cost intelligence and the benefits in order for the commercial team to act as a centre of excellence for unit costs and the benefits that the organisation can glean from this. To be successful You will hold a relevant technical/commercial qualification at degree level or similar Knowledge and experience of commercial management , assurance and project reporting Knowledge of commercial estimating and associated software Knowledge and experience of interpreting various Contract forms , with particular emphasis on NEC forms. analytical skills You will have the ability to work within and engage with project teams and with staff at all levels with varied technical understandings. You will be working towards member level of a professional organisation such as RICS, ICES, or equivalent. A bit about us There's never been a better time to join our Commercial and Procurement team.
