Job Description
An exciting opportunity has arisen within First Step, the Cumbria Improving Access to Psychological therapy (IAPT) Service to appoint to Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Trainee PWP) post(s). First Step We are a dynamic and dedicated team that offers a range of psychological therapies and services to treat people and support their recovery within a stepped care model. The team is made up of around 80 clinicians including Psychological Wellbeing Practitioners (PWP's), High Intensity Therapists, Counsellors and Employment Advisors . Our PWP workforce is a valuable and highly respected element of the service. The PWP role in our service is extremely varied and will allow you to gain a wide range of experience and skills. PWP's in the service provide telephone triage assessments, guided self-help treatments (face to face and over the phone), psycho-educational classes, and computerised CBT. PWP's receive regular case management supervision, line management, and clinical skills supervision to ensure development of core skills and practice. Trainee Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner Vacancy This is an exciting opportunity to train in delivering low intensity CBT based psychological therapies. You will be required to assess service users with common mental health problems and provide low intensity CBT such as guided self-help and psycho-educational groups. You will work within a supportive and friendly team and will receive regular case management and clinical supervision and further training opportunities. You must be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills and be committed to developing your clinical practice and knowledge within this role. You will work with people with different cultural backgrounds and ages, using interpreters when necessary and should be committed to equal opportunities. You will be required to meet the demands of balancing a high caseload whilst completing the academic components of the role. You will work towards a Post Graduate Certificate in Low Intensity Psychological Therapies and attend Newcastle University for university based Learning. You will work within the service for the remainder of the time. Our expectation is that combined with appropriate experience and/or qualifications the trainee post holder will meet all the training course requirements - academic, clinical practice and supervision.
