Interview dates to be confirmed **Please note face to face interviews are subject to COVID19 Health & Safety guidance and safety measures will be in place** The main purpose of the role is to act as the focal point for professional advice and police representation in relation to current and proposed Highway schemes, Highway and Traffic legislation and Safety matters. To act as the link between Warwickshire Police, Warwickshire Road Safety Partnership Board and internal/external agencies. Main Responsibilities: To represent the interests of Warwickshire Police at meetings with the Highways Agency, local authorities, consultants, contractors and local communities. Working in partnership with the Highways Agency and Highways Authorities and others to reduce road casualties and to identify where collision potential exists and to promote remedial measures; in particular at sites where there have been road deaths or serious injuries following collisions. Liaison with police collision investigation officers and attending site visits where fatal and serious collisions have occurred. To make recommendations for follow up work where needed and if appropriate have an input for the road death file. To liaise with and advise operational policing staff on proposed introductions and enforcement of highway regulation orders and other Road Safety matters. To respond to and deal with concerns raised by Police & Crime Commissioner, Members of Parliament, Local Councils and communities and to refer speed complaints to the Manager/Inspector of the Warwickshire Road Safety Unit as appropriate. To be consulted at the design stage of road improvement schemes and to carry out Safety Audits with external agencies on completion of those and other Highway schemes. To prepare written replies and reports on traffic regulation orders and other Road Safety matters on behalf of Chief Constable of Warwickshire Police to both internal and external agencies on occasion within tight timescales. To support and participate in Force and national initiatives and campaigns for casualty reduction or seasonal activity and to attend local shows and events to support communications activities when needed. To liaise with external agencies for presentations on Traffic Management and Road Safety related matters. To act as line management for the Traffic Management Assistant. To undertake other duties commensurate with the nature, level of responsibility and grading of this post, as required. Experience/Skills: Knowledge: To be educated to A Level standard or equivalent Professional qualification. Relevant Highway Engineering or Traffic Management qualification. A thorough working knowledge of road traffic legislation and within the traffic management field. Desirable: ROSPA Accident and Prevention Course qualified. Management Client Officer qualified (National Highway Sector Scheme). Experience: Experience in a role involving the gathering, processing, analysis and presentation of information. Substantial experience of working in a similar role or discipline. Experience of working within the Police Force, a traffic enforcement or traffic management environment would be desirable. Key Skills: Well-developed communication and analytical skills. The ability to communicate with Partners, Councillors, Complainants in a knowledgeable and polite manner. Special Conditions If not already qualified via the ROSPA Accident and Prevention Course, the successful candidate will need to achieve this within a six month period of appointment, subject to course availability. If not already qualified via the National Highway Sector Scheme in skill 12D (M7) Management Client Officer, the successful candidate will need to achieve this within a six month period of appointment, subject to course availability.
