Do you have a passion for helping young people struggling with mental health problems such as eating disorders? The Essex Children and Young People Community Eating Disorder Service (CYP-CEDS), is part of the Emotional Wellbeing and Mental Health Service. The service is commissioned to provide assessment and treatment for CYP presenting with symptoms of an eating disorder, across Southend, Essex and Thurrock. Team members benefit from excellent CPD opportunities focused around developing skills in working with eating disorders and comorbid conditions in CYP. Team members benefit from links with the NELFT Kent all age eating disorder service and the NELFT adult eating disorder service. We are seeking a psychological therapist (CBT therapist, family therapist, or clinical psychologist) to join our dedicated Children and Young Peoples Community Eating Disorder Team, based in Chelmsford. The service provides the latest in evidence based NICE compliant psychological interventions to children, young people and their families with an Eating Disorder. The team's multi-disciplinary approach to the assessment and treatment of individuals with an eating disorder is a real strength. We are looking for a candidate with expertise in either family based approaches to children and young people with eating disorders or evidence based individual therapy such as CBT. If a successful candidate has expertise in only one of these modalities, we will support them to develop skills in alternative approaches (e.g. by attending further training) so that they can work flexibly with this client group. We are looking for a suitably qualified candidate who will work to support the team to deliver the best possible treatment to our clients and their families. We are seeking an individual with the knowledge and skills to work as part of a multi-professional team and be innovative in their approach to supporting this client group. Ideally, the applicant will have some experience working with service users with an eating disorder and does have experience working with young people with mental health conditions. The post holder is expected to work well within a team setting however should be able to deliver an autonomous service as part of the role, operating within recognised professional guidelines and the overall framework of the eating disorder service's policies and procedures. The main responsibilities of the post: To provide specialist assessments and evidence based interventions such as family and cognitive behavioural interventions to children, adolescents and their families seen within the EWMHS eating disorders team To take an active role in developing the research activities of the team and audit and interpret complex data to develop own and others understanding of child and adolescent eating disorders. To contribute to the training activities of the team both within the service and externally. To provide consultation and advice to members of own team and other teams on eating disorders and related psychological issues To provide consultation and advice on risk assessment and risk management of service users with an eating disorder to members of own team and other teams. This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. We require prospective employees to carry out an online literacy and numeracy test, equivalent to NVQ Level 2. NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focusing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes.
