Job Description
OPAT, Ward 6, Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy. 37.5hrs and 34.5hrs This is an exciting new opportunity to be a part of a new service within NHS Fife. The successful candidate's will also work closely with ECAS and the DVT service. OPAT's aim is to reduce the number of days a patient requires to be cared for within the acute hospital setting. Patients who require long-term antibiotic treatments will be referred to OPAT, and assessed using a Nurse led criteria. Should the patient meet the criteria they will be discharged from the hospital under the care of OPAT. The OPAH team includes Nurses, Microbiologist, Pharmacist and Consultant. The patients will attend OPAT on a daily basis which includes weekends. You will be responsible for securing IV access, delivering the prescribed antibiotics and monitoring bloods where necessary. We are looking to continually develop and expand this service to reduce hospital length of stays, and help increase capacity within the hospital. This new way of working allows patients to be closely monitored and reviewed although in an outpatient setting. You should be enthusiastic, dynamic, organised and self motivated. We are looking for someone who can work on their own and as part of a team with good written and oral communication skills.
