Job Description

Applications are invited for the post of qualified Anatomical Pathology Technologist for the Hampshire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Mortuary Service. We are looking for a technician with proven technical skills or a technician with proven technical skills and more senior level experience/qualifications to join our enthusiastic team in maintaining and developing service quality. Applicants must have excellent communication skills, display meticulous attention to detail and have a detailed knowledge of Mortuary function and end-of-life care. Our service is comprised of two HTA-licensed mortuary sites, with Basingstoke & North Hampshire Hospital Mortuary currently providing hospital and Coronial services, and The Royal Hampshire County Hospital Mortuary providing hospital, Coronial and a forensic mortuary services. In total, around 1000 Coronial Post Mortems are carried out annually over both sites. Applicants should be aware of ISO 15189:2012 standards and HTA licensing requirements. The successful candidate will have extensive experience of working with community partners, The Coroner's Office and Bereavement services, with an innate empathic approach towards the bereaved and a supportive attitude to colleagues in an emotionally and physically demanding workplace. The role will include participating in the 24/7 on-call service and as a dual site mortuary service, while the successful candidate will be based routinely at the Basingstoke site, there will be a rotational requirement to work cross- site. Minimum qualification level for consideration of a qualified post will be the Diploma Level 3 or equivalent.
