Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust Directorate of Head & Neck LOCUM CONSULTANT OTOLARYNGOLOGIST WITH AN INTEREST IN GENERAL ENT AND LARYNGEAL DYSTONIA An opportunity has arisen for a Whole-Time Consultant Otolaryngologist with an interest in General ENT and Laryngeal Dystonia to be employed by Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust based and based at Royal Hallamshire Hospital. This post is fixed term for 12 months. ENT, Audiovestibular Medicine & Hearing Services are managed as a single directorate. The ENT department has particular expertise in the management of many sub specialty areas including Otology/Neurotology, Aural Surgery and Oncology. Sheffield has been designated as the main centre for Head & Neck cancer with a single centralised MDT serving the South Yorkshire and North Derbyshire area. State of the art facilities are available including CO2 laser and the Da Vinci surgical robot. A full range of modern otology/neurotology is also undertaken and is developing in areas such as; Base of skull surgery, including neurotology and anterior skull-base surgery, Implantation otology including Bone Conduction Devices and Middle Ear Implants, Management of complex hearing and balance disorders with MDT clinics and full battery of electrophysiological tests Provision of bespoke facial reanimation service. The service is regional and draws referrals from the whole of Yorkshire and beyond. The rhinology service provides regional advanced rhinology and anterior skull base surgery. Similarly the laryngeal dystonia service is a regional MDT service that has developed regionally. The service is further boosted through active collaboration with Neurology, Neurosurgery, Therapy Services and Neuroradiology. In addition to Consultant medical staff, there is a large multidisciplinary team within the ENT Directorate including scientists, technicians, therapists and psychology, providing diagnostic support to ENT as well as providing clinical services in their own right.
