As part of OVO's Trading function, this role will report into the Industry Risk [Manager]. This is an exciting role which will help to drive insightful and accurate forecasting of energy industry costs and risks. The Industry Risk Team have ownership of forecasting, tracking and validating payments in excess of 1.5bn per annum and so small improvements in the team's performance can have a material impact on OVO's commercial performance, business planning and commercial strategy. OVO's Trading function is a dynamic and fast paced environment. This will give you the opportunity to build relationships across all areas of the business and to help to ensure that key internal stakeholders have a clear understanding of the opportunities and risks associated with our Industry Cost base within the ever evolving Energy Industry. What will I be doing? Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:- * Contributor to the production and maintenance of accurate forecasts of all direct Industry Costs and forecast Gross Margin for current OVO Retail tariffs * Monitoring actual costs and ensure that we fully understand any variances from forecast * Developing processes for Invoice validation for all direct Industry Costs and resolution of any disputes with industry participants * Maintaining a detailed understanding of the drivers of the costs involved in supplying energy and the industry change that could influence costs in the future * Use your knowledge of analytical and statistical methods to develop and own cost forecast models and Price Cap forecast models. * Implement your technical skills to automate and improve existing processes and tools. * Develop systems and process that ensure that cost forecast data is made available to all internal stakeholders in an efficient and timely manner * Proactively identify and implement improvements to forecasting methodologies, engaging with external stakeholders and industry experts. * Contribute to assessing the impact of proposed industry change and developing our lobbying position * You will develop strong relationships with internal stakeholders across all levels to consolidate information and highlight risks and opportunities. * Ensure that our knowledge is kept up to date and is shared both within the team and with wider business stakeholders * Ad hoc projects as required Is this the job for me? Ideally you will have... * You will need to be a numbers person, confident in dealing with large data sets and extracting key insight & results * You will need the ability to learn quickly in order to develop a detailed understanding of existing models and processes * You will need to be able to take the initiative in addressing and leading our response to complex challenges. * Highly analytical with strong data manipulation skills and advanced Excel knowledge. * Experience with data analysis in a programming language (eg. Python or R) and writing SQL queries * Demonstrable high attention to detail. * Strong communication skills. * A team player who thrives in a challenging environment. * Flexibility; willing to contribute on a range of work aspects. * Commercial awareness to support prioritisation and communication at a senior level. * Self-starter, comfortable working both autonomously and with colleagues to deliver value in a small, high-functioning team. * Degree and 2+ years work experience in analytical, numerical or science based subject.
