Job Description
Technical Support Engineer Would you like to play a key role in supporting our Royal Navy submarine programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Technical Support Engineer, which can be based at any of the following site locations: Filton, Broad Oak, Yeovil or Devonport. As a Technical Support Engineer, you will be part of our In-Service Support team, working on submarine combat systems projects. This team provides support directly to the customer and their contracts, which includes providing authoritative advice, as well as physical engineering support. This will be a project-focused role, helping with the production of bids for new contracts. You will hold responsibility for the day-to-day processing of all In-Service Engineering Support tasking received via the Submarine Delivery Agency (SDA). Working directly under the Engineering Manager (ISE) you will be responsible for the Project Engineering elements of Design Services Arrangement (DSA), Task Authorisation Forms (TAF) and other new bid work through the company Engineering Lifecycle. This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a friendly team with varied day-to-day activities, with excellent future career progression opportunities such as progression to Principal Engineer or support to obtaining Chartered status. Your main responsibilities as a Technical Support Engineer will involve: Co-ordination of early internal stakeholder engagement to ensure that TAF requirements are understood and captured at the appropriate stage of the lifecycle Defining the engineering lifecycle requirements of each project and supporting the programme team to maintain bid schedules, whilst understanding issues and mitigating as required to deliver against the customers target delivery date Assisting in the production of Technical Proposals Providing support to Supply Chain requirements - assisting in the establishment of Project SLAs / Non-Disclosure Agreements (NDAs) Identification of Technical Support to ensure that project functional / non-functional requirements are correctly defined and ready to be flowed down to suppliers Configuration Management of engineering documentation to ensure an auditable trail Supporting the Senior Engineering Manager - In Service Engineering in presenting the monthly breakdown of tasking progress (through the CS PPR) to ensure that any issues / opportunities are fed into the following Combat System Release (CSR) Ensuring quality and compliance of discipline activity is maintained consistent with engineering policy Identifying any concerns on systems of work across multiple programmes and raising to the Engineering Manager (In-Service Engineering) to ensure adherence with the company Engineering Lifecycle Your skills and qualifications as a Technical Support Engineer: Essential: Engineering background Ideally HNC/HND/Degree qualified (or equivalent qualification or experience) Desirable: Knowledge of military projects/products Project engineering experience What we're looking for in you: We are looking for a team-player who possesses excellent communication skills to effectively liaise with a range of stakeholders, including the customer. You must also have good organisation skills and be able to work to project timescales.
