Job Description

Newcastle College require a dedicated, enthusiastic and qualified person to take on the role of Lecturer in Construction and Civil Engineering The main responsibilities of this role include the delivery and assessment of high quality learning programmes across the curriculum delivered at the Rail and Civil Engineering Academy. Courses range from further education, higher education and an apprenticeship provision. Along side the teaching role, the candidate will undertake a range of programme leadership, tutorial and programme administration duties. The candidate will be confident in sustainability, property law, building techniques and have the relevant skills to complete digital and hand drawings. Time will be dedicated to upskill to encourage teaching over a further range of disciplines. This post requires a strong background in legislative and practical aspects of Construction and Civil Engineering and the candidate must have proven track record of professional / vocational expertise in the Civil Engineering sector. The candidate must be qualified to honours degree level (Level 6) or qualified to the industry-recognised standard in a relevant field, hold a post-16 teaching qualification and English and maths qualifications at level 2, or be willing to achieve these within an agreed timeframe. It is desirable that the candidate has experience of effective programme leadership in FE, HE and / or Apprenticeships and has a proven track record of successful teaching and assessment practice. An ability to self-manage workload, meet deadlines alongside strong oral and written communication skills and good IT skills are also essential. The hours of work will be flexible and may include evening and weekends according to demand.
