Job Description

We are delighted to be able to offer this full time substantive Higher Assistant Psychologist Crisis post at band 5, dedicated to our adult crisis resolution and home treatment team based in Ripon and supporting the adult populations of Harrogate, Ripon, Knaresborough, Wetherby and surrounding areas. The team operates over 24 hours, 7 day a week 12 hr shift working pattern. The post holder will be part of a resilient, welcoming and professional team who work collaboratively with internal and external partners to meet the needs of those who are experiencing a crisis in their mental health needs. The team takes a recovery orientated, formulation driven approach which values shared decision making. Applicants should have extensive experience of working as an Assistant Psychologist in adult mental health settings. Working autonomously with the ability to support individuals' needs through formulations, well-being interventions and positive behaviour support that are central aspects of this role and applicants should have strong knowledge, skills and experiences in these specific areas. This is an exciting time to join the team in light of current financial investment in crisis mental health services in Harrogate and Ripon as well as the ongoing transformation of services which will also see reinvestment and growth in the team. Successful applicants will be a member of a multi-disciplinary team and there is ample opportunity to develop and enhance your existing clinical skills. You will receive regular supervision and there are good training opportunities. As a member of the team you will provide a service to those individuals who present with a mental health crisis who may require a period of crisis intervention as an alternative to admission. The team are also responsible for gatekeeping admissions to the acute admission ward as well as supporting bed management. The post-holder will support the clinical leadership of more junior members of the team, prioritising workload and utilising resources appropriately to ensure that service user needs are met. Applicants should be highly motivated, have the ability to act on own initiative and have sound assessment and written skills. Due to the nature of the role it is essential that applicants are able to travel independently across the locality and have access to a suitable vehicle for business purposes.
