About The Role: An exciting opportunity has arisen for a nurse to join our SMS Team at HMP Wealstun. This brings a great opportunity to embrace change and embed culture. We have an integrated healthcare team that provides a stepped care approach offering Primary Care, Mental Health and Substance misuse intervention similar to those experienced and replicated within the wider community. As a Substance Misuse Nurse, you will work as part of an integrated team, working within healthcare alongside Primary Care, Mental Health and Recovery practitioners. As an SMS nurse your role will involve: Carrying out comprehensive assessments Providing recovery and providing a person-centred approach Initiating and reviewing individualised recovery plans Confidently communicating the full range of treatment options available to service users Working with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information Co-facilitating group work Providing specialist support and resource to your clinical and prison colleagues. Supporting dispensing Contributing to complex case reviews as part of the healthcare and prison multi-disciplinary team Contributing to the weekly integrated mental health and SMS multi-disciplinary meeting liaising with prescribers regarding clinical interventions. The Job Requirements: You will be a Registered Nurse (RGN or RMN) looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever-changing environment. You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve healthcare services. Regular support and supervision will be provided by the clinical team manager, with the opportunity for peer supervision and networking with SMS nurses across prison sites. Care UK also provides and supports ongoing professional training and development. We want to employ a nurse who has a real understanding of the needs of the prisoner/offender population who can also bring innovation and change to our services. Prison experience desirable but not essential. The team currently operates between Monday to Friday 08:00-16:00. There may be an expectation to work extended hours or occasional weekends, however, this would be based on service demands and changing needs of the service. Further Job Information: This position is 37.5 hours per week role on a rota basis.
