Job Description

Company Overview RF Power engineering team provides engineering resources to support major product development projects, from design leadership through to production build. In addition the team provides design and customer support for existing product portfolio, in both new and old applications and throughout the product lifecycle. The technician role provides the support to the electronic systems team throughout development as well as the product manufacturing. The delivery of product in high and low quantities is critical, as well as being flexible to support the development work, repair and rework of all electronic systems. High dexterity and ability to perform fine pitch surface mount soldering is critical. Due to work on military systems, SC clearance will be required. Position Summary and Responsibilities Planning for Results * Assembly and test of electronic subsystems primarily as part of pre-production and production microwave products and components according to agreed operating procedures * Meet requirements of the project production schedule * Ensuring that tools and equipment are in good working order and in calibration where appropriate * Identify constraints in production flow and any line stoppages * Organising and kitting components, tools and assemblies to complete electro/mechanical assembly efficiently * Work effectively in a team environment to enhance team performance & productivity Improvement * Identify opportunities for improvement to work area and processes and support implementation * Support and guide engineering team for solutions with build and modifications * Ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained in work station and surrounding area Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) The role holder is also responsible OHSE and must:- * Champion our Health and Safety standards, procedures and company rules; * Intervene, correct (where able to) and report all unsafe or non-compliant situations by taking action (e.g. hazard spots) and reporting near misses ; * Demonstrate a duty of care towards those you come in contact with and work with and proactively escalate potential Health and Safety issues as and where appropriate; * Support and promote the e2v Safety, Health and Environment Leadership Team (SHELT) programme to strengthen our Occupational Health, Safety and Environmental (OHSE) culture for proactive and continuous improvement of our OHSE programs which provide for a productive and safe working environment. Qualifications Essential Experience/qualifications: * Experience in assembly and test of electronic subsystems as per accountabilities of the role * Strong practical skills with the capability to read technical drawings * Soldering experience: Lead free, MIL standard, fine pitch surface mount eg 0402 Components * Ability to perform fine pitch processes such as hand soldering, soldering with hot air pencil, electronic assembly * High dexterity and great attention to detail, with ability to manipulate small complex parts repeatedly and with precision and ensuring quality standards * Modification of PCBs in accordance with agreed specifications including replacement of fine pitch surface mount devices in a timely and diligent manner * Trained to work with ESD * General mechanical skills including use of standard hand tools to industrial standard * Rework of mechanical assemblies according to agreed specification, instructions and or drawings * Basic computer skills including MS Office Suite, Word, Excel or equivalent * Qualified to IPC J-STD 001 Desired Experience/qualifications: * Knowledge of HV test equipment and/or RF test equipment * Experience generating work instructions and undertaking training of others * Working knowledge of SAP * Experience managing/generating concessions, permits, quality notifications and special work instructions * ONC/HNC in a relevant subject or relevant industrial experience * Qualified to IPC 610
