Job Description

Vacancy Overview The Data Steward will work with the Senior Manager of Data Managment to deliver data improvement projects, drive forward and embed data management best practice across data governance, data architecture and metadata management disciplines to support our strategic vision of being a data driven business. The individual will develop a high profile and focus on building excellent relationships with data stakeholders across Customers, understand the Customers data strategy and then lead the delivery of value based projects to support this. The Data Steward will also work with the wider Customers Data Management team and work closely with experts in data governance, data architecture and data modelling to improve how the Customers business manages its data. The Data Steward will also will work closely with senior data stakeholders across all parts of the Customers Business,as well as within Data Development, Bluelab, EIT and operate within the Customers-wide data community. The Data Development team in Blue Lab has a key role in Data Innovation for Customers, leveraging and building capabilities across all disciplines of cloud technologies, analytics, data quality, reporting, data science, people, processes, operating models, to incubate and build a Data team that can support, enable and challenge the Customers business to really realise our need to be a data driven company. The Person * Lead delivery of specific data improvement projects with a clear focus on delivering value * Lead on embedding data management best practices through using experts within the team across data governance, data modelling & data architecture * Create a high profile across Customers ensuring that the Data Management team is the "go to" place for all data related issues * Become a subject matter expert on the data within their remit and drive forward the data management agenda * Lead on identifying emerging business needs and support delivery of new data capabilities * Work closely with the business stakeholders to understand data issues and improve data processes * Lead on identifying data quality issues and work with the data quality team to deliver results * Drive adoption of central business glossary and data dictionary across their stakeholder groups * Develop, enhance, manage and explain the business data definitions in the data steward's domain * Working with stakeholders to identify 'critical data' and ensure that all identified data elements are formally listed, unambiguously defined from both a business and IT perspective in a data "dictionary" * Support resolution of data governance issues and help teams across the enterprise take appropriate corrective action, document and communicate decisions to ensure that policies are followed in future The Skills * Self-starting with ability to work with a high degree of autonomy, control own workload & able to pro-actively identify opportunities to add value to the Customers business * Ability to proactively identify opportunities to improve data capabilities, build value cases and drive through to delivery * Ability to gain buy in, build connections, promote ideas and work collaboratively across all levels of seniority and across boundaries * Able to establish and maintain effective business relationships with key stakeholders at all levels with strong influencing skills * Ability to innovate and to challenge the status quo and creativity to look for ways to improve data capabilities * Excellent business communication (written and verbal) and presentation skills * Customer focus, including ability to explain complex issues in an understandable way to a wide audience * Self-motivated, focused, detailed oriented and able to work efficiently to deadlines are essential * Well organised with excellent time management skills * Confident, articulate and have a high degree of personal integrity * Strong team player who helps create the right environment for idea generation & supports others in making new ideas work. * Understanding of data management principles such as data governance, metadata management and data modelling Why EDF?
