Job Introduction Are you interested in working directly with adults involved in an abusive relationship? Do you want to play an important part in changing lives in order to safeguard adults and children, promote healthy relationships, and create a safer community? We currently have an opportunity for a Domestic Abuse Adult Worker to join the Peterborough Family Safeguarding Project on a fixed term contract. If you have good knowledge and experience of child and adult safeguarding and experience of assessing and working with perpetrators of domestic abuse to address harmful patterns of thinking and behaving, this could be a great opportunity for you. Role Responsibility * Work with other members of the Family Safeguarding Team to assess the risks and needs associated with perpetrators and victims of domestic abuse, and develop a multi-agency plan to address them. * Undertake interviews and home visits, and attend multi-agency meetings to gather information and ensure the effective risk assessment and risk management of domestic abuse perpetrators. * Prepare written assessments, plans and progress reports for the Family Safeguarding Team and Family Court. * Develop and deliver 1:1 and group work activities based on cognitive behavioural approaches to assess, manage and reduce the risk of domestic abuse; as well as impacting positively on thinking and behaviour. * Work closely with other professionals in the Family Safeguarding Team and partnership agencies, including Police, Probation and multi-agency forums such as MARAC (Multi-Agency Risk Assessment Conferences) and MAPPA (Multi-Agency Public Protection Arrangements) to ensure that increases in risk of harm are identified, escalated and appropriately managed to safeguard victims and children. The Ideal Candidate * The Diploma in Probation Studies, PQUIP, CQSW, Diploma in Social Work (with Probation Module) or equivalent qualification is essential for this post. * Knowledge of risk assessment and risk management processes and impact of domestic violence. * Up to date knowledge of legislation relating to domestic abuse, child and adult safeguarding. * Experience of producing high quality written assessment, reports and plans * Good communication skills * Ability to analyse and solve problems * Experience of working to deadlines and under pressure * Effective IT skills Package Description Salary 31,271 per annum, plus an additional payment linked to experience and knowledge which applies for the duration of this role. 37 hours per week, 27 days holiday + 8 bank holidays, defined contribution pension scheme, company sick pay, group discount scheme. Fixed term contract. There is an expectation that Domestic Abuse Adult Workers work some evenings and weekends to enable perpetrators and families to engage and attend appointments with without jeopardising their employment.
