Job Description
Vacancy: Electrical Maintenance Engineer Location: Castleford Salary: £32000 Hours: Panama Shift Pattern This role is to provide first line response to all plant breakdowns and safely and effectively implement robust solutions to ensure equipment is brought back into a productive state. Provide first line maintenance support to production facilitating fault diagnosis to root cause on all plant and equipment in a timely manner. Whilst plant is operational, proactively monitor the equipment performance, investigating abnormal running conditions, attempting to predict failures or issues which may cause downtime and then planning in interventions to remedy these. Record details of issues and opportunities encountered with the plant during the shift on to the company CMMS system. Ensure continuity between shift teams via a suitable handover to compliment the information recorded in the site CMMS system Carry out reactive and preventative maintenance to all plant to a high standard, thereby maximising plant availability, minimising plant failures and ensuring continued high product quality. Ensure that personnel are not exposed to danger from any electrical or mechanical plant or equipment, that all guards and safety devices are secure and operational and that all personnel are alert to the dangers when working with or on moving plant or equipment. At all times be aware of and comply with the company safety policy, The Health and Safety at Work Act, and any other safety specific instructions as may be issued by the company from time to time. Co-operate in the operation of the company permit to work system, ensuring that at all times an adequate risk assessment is performed prior to working on any potentially hazardous system or work location and that suitable control measures are employed to minimise all risks to acceptable levels. Ensure a high standard of housekeeping both in the workshop and in all areas of the factory. Assist with the content of all local project work, ensuring that all equipment and workmanship is of a high standard. Proactively suggest possible plant modifications and improvements, raising for discussion and consideration with maintenance and production supervision. Provide 'hands on' Electrical and Mechanical support during shutdown periods and the weekly maintenance breaks. The management reserve the right to restrict holidays during shutdown periods. To ensure sufficient cover for production, shift cover for your colleagues must be provided whenever possible to ensure all Production shifts are supported with one Maintenance Engineer per shift. Cover must be organised for holiday, sickness and unforeseen absence. Perform other duties within your ability as requested by supervision. JOB SCOPE/DIMENSIONS You will demonstrate success through safe working, improved plant reliability and continuous improvement, whilst demonstrating adherence and improvements to PM tasks and systems. Key measures of success will be Site Equipment availability, CMMS system usage, PM and Work Order Closure rates and ultimately ensuring Production Equipment Uptime KEY TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES * Respond to Plant Breakdowns immediately and ensure that all relevant personnel are updated on the status of the breakdown as required, both during and after the issue has been resolved * Attending and actively participating in Production meetings & Shift handovers. Effectively receiving tasks and either completing them or communicating them onwards to the relevant managers for action * Giving and Receiving an effective handover from other shift Engineers * Complete a full record of works done on the CMMS system - to include a description of the work, and a thorough record of all adjustments / changes made. * Ensure Shift Cover at all times * Be available for overtime during routine planned outages * Actively develop corrective actions to solve operational issues. Other Important Functions * Promote an Active Safety Culture * Regular Interaction with Shift Managers / Team Leaders and operators is a key part of the role. * Completion of Planned & Unplanned Work Orders within the department * Be available for extra shifts over Christmas / Planned shutdown periods. * Lead by example * Embody the Department Aims and Targets to motivate others * Strive to continually exceed the Department KPI's JOB SPECIFICATIONS Education and Experience requirements: * Electrical/Mechanical Apprenticeship, equal experience of both is required * Experience working on shift as the single point of contact for maintenance * Maintenance experience working in a manufacturing environment * Experience of Extrusion, Wash Plants and associated controls & systems * High level knowledge of PLC Control, ability to monitor the PLC Code live, identify issues and pinpoint faults and then to implement solutions as required * High level knowledge of mechanical systems including Hydraulics, Pneumatics, Gearmotors, Pumps, Fans, to include fault finding and their
