**For Current Gilead Employees and Contractors:** Please log onto your Internal Career Site at to apply for this job. **Job Description** Reporting to the Vice President, Global Commercial HR, this new position will partner with the SVP, Intercontinental Region in setting the long-term people strategy, planning, and execution within assigned region. Intercontinental is a diverse region including: Asia 5 (Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan), Latin America, Middle East, and Russia. It's ~$750M in revenue and 170 employees. This leader will work cross-functionally, across the broader Gilead Commercial team and across Gilead. **Knowledge, Experience and Skills:** + Leads with a global mindset and enterprise perspective, takes into consideration how decisions impact other parts of the organization/function, strives towards integrated solutions to maximize impact on business + Thrives at dealing with high level of ambiguity and complexity, highly adaptable to different situations and agile in response, guides/supports the team/function in time of change + Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills are required. Must possess strong influencing skills. + Understanding of business objectives and the ability to translate those objectives into HR priorities. + Requires a thorough knowledge and understanding of Human Resources legislation/employment law, principles, policies, and procedures. + Must be able to develop solutions to a wide range of highly complex problems, which require an in-depth degree of ingenuity, creativity, and innovation. + Prior experience and desire to manage a geographically disperse team. Is a champion, coach and mentor for the development of others. + Ability to exercise judgment and independently determine and take appropriate action within defined HR policies and procedures. **Key Key Responsibilities:** + Partners with SVP Intercontinental and leadership team to establish and execute a globally consistent people strategy and plan, supported by a scalable and effective local HR infrastructure. + Serves as the lead HR Business Partner for Middle East and Latin America, in addition to supporting the SVP, Intercontinental Region. + Provides leadership for the planning, development, implementation, administration and budgeting for HR in Intercontinental. + Advises the Intercontinental leadership team and mangers on HR policy and program matters, making or recommending appropriate decisions, which may be significantly complex. + Be both a coach and advisor to the managers and employees across Intercontinental. + Viewed as subject matter expert and maintains contacts with external sources to stay apprised of current trends and new legislative changes. + Actively looks for/learns about/rewards new ideas and innovative ways of doing things; allocate resources and remove barriers to advocate or invest in promising ideas. + Partner with the COEs to drive the delivery of key HR programs and services, including compensation, recruitment, training and development. Provides advice and feedback regarding the design and rollout. + Analyses business needs, defines the talent management strategy within the client group and influences recruiting decisions. Drives strategies to develop bench-strength and succession plans + Ensures effective communication strategies are in place within the organization and builds two-way communication channels. + Conduct and/or facilitate new hire check-in, exit interviews, on-boarding meetings, annual talent/performance review related meetings + Manages complex employment relations issues in partnership with Employee Relations and Legal + Identifies opportunities to expand and strengthen HRBP's role in supporting client's organization. + Responsible for the selection, management, development and evaluation of HR staff, outsourcing, and consulting/professional services organizations to ensure the efficient operation of the function. **Qualifications and Education:** + Relevant experience in the HR field and a BA or BS degree, preferably with an emphasis in HR or Business. + A Master's degree can be substituted for 2 years of relevant experience. + Ability to travel extensively internationally. **Gilead Core Values:** + Integrity (Doing What's Right) + Inclusion (Encouraging Diversity) + Teamwork (Working Together) + Excellence (Being Your Best) + Accountability (Taking Personal Responsibility) **Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO)** It is the policy of Gilead Sciences, Inc. and its subsidiaries and affiliates (collectively "Gilead" or the "Company") to recruit select and employ the most qualified persons available for positions throughout the Company.
