Overview of role A laboratory focused position in the High Throughput Screening (HTS) Group of the Chemical Research & Development department (CRD). The position requires the application of High Throughput Screening methods, using state of the art technologies, to generate core data fundamental to synthetic route and manufacturing process design. That data provides the foundation for optimal design and development of safe, robust, scalable and efficient chemical processes for the manufacture of Active Pharmaceutical Ingredients (API's). **Responsibilities** + Practical organic chemistry: + The role is primarily laboratory based. + Design, execution and data interpretation of High Throughput Experiments specifically reaction, solubility and salt screens. + Design, execution and interpretation of multivariate experimentation approaches i.e.: DoE. + Efficient execution through the use of the latest technologies. + Maintain high safety standards at all times. + Proactive collaboration with other scientists to design screens, interpret the resulting data and enable subsequent process development + Utilise the literature, computational tools and developing knowledge to design and interpret screening experiments. + Maintain a high-quality lab notebook to good laboratory practise standards. + Convey work clearly and concisely to internal stakeholders through written and verbal communications. + Drive the utilisation of the most contemporary and effective technologies and software. Organisational Relationships Partner with Chemistry, Engineering, Analytical and Manufacturing colleagues within Sandwich and additional Pfizer sites. Potential to collaborate externally with other Pharmaceutical companies, external consultants and contractors. Qualifications A minimum of degree level in Chemistry. Technical Skill Requirements + Strong knowledge of Organic Chemistry e.g.: synthetic reagents, methodologies and reaction mechanisms, consistent with qualification level. + Practise of conducting chemical reactions is essential, High Throughput Screening methodologies such as reaction and solubility screening is advantageous. + Strong learning aptitude; desire and ability to learn organic chemistry, new techniques and embrace a continuous improvement philosophy to drive enhanced working approaches. + Self-motivated, hardworking and able to set personal goals which are both realistic and focused. + Enthusiastic attitude and approach to teamwork. Ability to work collaboratively and effectively within high performing teams as well as individually. + Possess a passion in the application and development of new technologies, software and computational chemistry. + Rational and creative approach to problem solving. Ability to apply learning to new situations as well as trying new and untested approaches to solve problems. + Ability to evaluate information from a broad range of sources, draw sound conclusions and propose next steps. + Communicates verbally and in written form with clarity and purpose.
