NHS AYRSHIRE AND ARRAN CONSULTANT IN TRAUMA AND ORTHOPAEDICS " HIP SURGERY Applications are invited for this replacement post following a retiral in January 2020. The post is an Ayrshire and Arran appointment that will be initially based at Crosshouse Hospital. You will be joining an existing team of 10 Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeons based at Crosshouse Hospital and linking with a further 7 Consultant Orthopaedic and Trauma Surgeons at The Ayr Hospital. The successful candidate should have appropriate sub-specialty experience in complex primary and revision hip surgery as well as general trauma and orthopaedic surgery. On appointment the successful candidate will initially participate in the on-call orthopaedic rota of 1:10 for out of hours cover including weekends at Crosshouse Hospital, though implementation of an Ayrshire wide Trauma Unit is planned. Crosshouse Hospital is a general hospital with over 400 beds, located on the outskirts of Kilmarnock and was opened in 1982. The Ayr Hospital is a 353 bedded general hospital opened in 1992 which is located to the south east of Ayr town. The Terms and Conditions of Service are those determined by the New Consultant Contract (Scotland) 2004 and the post is offered on a 10 programmed activity basis, although opportunities may exist for Extra Programmed Activities subject to service requirements. Applications from individuals who may wish to work on a part-time or job sharing basis will be considered. Applicants will be appropriately experienced, with Full GMC Registration and be on the GMC Specialist Register. Those trained in the UK should have evidence of Higher Specialist Training leading to CCT, or be within 6 months of confirmed entry from the date of interview. Non UK applicants require to demonstrate equivalent training.
