Job Description
Would you like the opportunity to be part of an innovative team covering Durham and Darlington providing assessment and formulation to Children and Young People who may have Autism? Tees Esk & Wear Valleys NHS Foundation trust has worked on an exciting and innovative Assessment process that has streamlined the multi-disciplinary assessment and formulation for children and young people who may have ASD. We have developed a multidisciplinary team providing assessment and formulation for children and young people across Durham, located within two bases; one in the south and one in the north of the area. This process is extremely fast paced and the ideal applicant will be extremely organised and self motivated to provide high quality assessment and formulation to the young people within the service. This role may also involve multi-agency working and also presents a good opportunity to work as part of a wider multi-disciplinary team. We have been able to provide additional provision for assessment groups and school based observations autism specific assessments. Due to the nature of the assessment process and team model you must be able to travel independently across the county on a regular basis. As this service will be rapidly developing a commitment to using TEWV QIS will be essential. The ideal applicant will need to have relevant skills and experience in the area of ASD, preferably have post qualifying experience and qualifications trained or willing to work towards this within an agreed time frame. Additional training and qualifications around ASD would be of benefit. This post represents an exciting opportunity to be involved in the development of the team, and wider multi agency development of the Autism Assessment Team. Applications are invited from applicants who are a Registered Professional and hold a current registration on the appropriate professional register. We are looking to appoint a Autism Assessment Co-ordinator working within the Durham & Darlington Children's Autism Assessment Team The successful applicant will be responsible for delivering a high standard of clinical leadership to the team, ensuring clinical standards are maintained in the delivery of care across all aspects of the service. The nature of this works requires a calm, consistent approach to some challenging clinical situations alongside a willingness to be compassionate, creative and flexible in delivering assessment following a pathway of care pertaining to children and young people who are requiring an assessment of Autism. The successful applicant will be required to contribute to and lead ongoing service development. This role covers the South of Durham and Darlington, and is predominantly based out of Sedgefield Community Hospital but support may be required in Stanley Primary Care Centre on occasions. . The applicant will need experience of working within a multi agency team and will need to be able to co-ordinate and manage a large number of assessments pertaining to Autism. The applicant needs to also have a very good understanding and ability to formulate care and communicate this to the wider audience both verbally and in a comprehensive written format.
