Job Description

Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner (Qualified) This is a permanent full time post. The Psychological Wellbeing Practitioner will work within Waltham Forest talking Therapies (IAPT) providing high volume low intensity interventions which will include cognitive behavioural theory and practice through the provision of 6 sessions of guided self-help by both face-face and telephone. The successful candidate will hold university degree in a subject enabling the post holder to demonstrate psychological mindedness: for example, a degree in psychology, health or social sciences AND a qualification from a recognised, accredited, post graduate PWP training programme. The successful candidate will also have experience of working with mental health service users in an IAPT service in the NHS or voluntary sector They will be able to demonstrate knowledge and awareness of issues relating to mental health and mental health problems and an understanding of Cognitive Behavioural Theory and Therapy. The main responsibilities of the post: * To assist with the provision of information/self-help material and support for self-help groups, under the supervision of a qualified mental health practitioner. * To assess and support people with common mental health problems in the self-management of their recovery * To make decisions on suitability of new referrals, adhering Barking & Dagenham IAPT referral protocols, and refer unsuitable clients on to the relevant service or step the client up to high intensity or secondary care * To provide a range of information and support for evidence based low intensity psychological treatments which will include guided self-help, computerised CBT. This may be face-face, telephone or via other media * To contribute to programmes and groups involving the self-help and self-management of common mental health conditions programmes * To actively make use of clinical supervision for all client-related tasks in order * To review and improve the effectiveness of interventions offered. * To complete all requirements relating to data collection within the service. Probationary Period This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff). Assessment/Interview info At NELFT we set very high standards to ensure we provide quality services. Starting with NELFT NELFT place a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training and the allocation of equipment. As part of the process new starters will have the opportunity to also meet the executive team, senior managers and attend a number of drop in sessions focussing in engagement, health and wellbeing and key processes. The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. High Cost Area Supplement - London This post also attracts payment for High Cost Area Supplement of 15% of the basic salary (with a minimum of 3,784 to a maximum of 4,822).
