Job Description

Applications are invited from enthusiastic and well-motivated HCPC registered Biomedical Scientists. The successful candidate will rotate through all sections of Haematology (Automation, Special Haematology and Blood Transfusion) and will be expected to participate in the laboratory's 24/7 out-of-hours service. The department is housed in a modern, purpose built laboratory and the successful candidate would be joining a busy but friendly team. You will be working for the largest Trust in the SW Region that provides medical, surgical and maternity care for a population of approximately half a million people in the North Bristol, South Gloucestershire and North Somerset areas. In May 2014 the Trust relocated the majority of its acute services to the Brunel Building, one of the most advanced hospitals in Europe offering exemplary care in a beautiful and purpose built environment, designed with the patients privacy and dignity in mind. Alongside this there has been significant investment and redevelopment of Pathology services with the building of new state of the art laboratories at Southmead Hospital and the creation of Severn Pathology. The laboratory facilities accommodate all pathology disciplines including the Bristol Genetics Laboratory, a single Bristol Cellular Pathology Service and a combined Microbiology and Health Protection Agency service within one facility.
