Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for Mental Health / Learning Disability Nurses to work within the Liaison and Diversion team in Durham and Darlington. The post will require working with persons of all age within the criminal justice system. You will be required to conduct mental health / learning disability and vulnerability assessments to identify needs and refer on to appropriate treatment / support services. You will be required to work across all police custodies / Magistrate Courts in County Durham as well as some support local Youth Offending Teams and carrying out home visits in the community. The Liaison and Diversion service provides assessment and liaison for people who are either currently in the criminal justice system or at risk of entering the criminal justice system in close collaboration with partner agencies. The post holder will offer advice and support to criminal justice staff. Carry out face-to-face assessments, follow up after release and facilitate access / engagement to appropriate local services. The post holder will be expected to work shifts including 12hr shifts, 8am-8pm and 8hr shifts 8am-4pm. The service operates 7 days a week, including bank holidays.
