More details are on its website: www.riotinto.com Rio Tinto was the largest iron ore mining company in 2019, with 340mt of Iron ore from the Pilbara and 20mt from Canada. This role is based in the Atlantic market and is focused on the sale of IOC iron ore concentrates and pellets to the global market. The role is also part of the team that is responsible for developing sales opportunities for Pilbara iron ores in the Atlantic Market. IOC is a leading North American producer and exporter of premium iron ore pellets and high-grade concentrate with average iron grades greater than 66%. Our operations include its mines, operational pits, a concentrator and a pelletising plant located near Labrador City, in the province of Newfoundland and Labrador. IOC is located in the region known as the "Labrador Trough", an established basin with significant deposits for the supply of high-grade iron ore products. The Opportunity: We are looking for a Principal Sales - Iron Ore (Atlantic) to contribute value to our Iron Ore/Pellet sales. As part of a team and with delegate responsibilities subject to experience and skills the individual will be involved in negotiations of key commercial terms to meet short term sales objectives and the product and company sales strategy. The role will involve interactions with customers, technical teams, RT and IOC management, undertaking market analysis and reporting to inform stakeholders and management of market developments and commercial deals Main Responsibilities: This role is a great opportunity to contribute and take a lead, where delegate, in the development of negotiating positioning of the business, and contributing to commercial outcomes. Working within the IOC team and reporting to the Vice President - Atlantic Basin Marketing, you will be: Commercial strategy execution and input * Contribute to the development of a robust product negotiation strategy and customer negotiation plans specific to achieving the best possible commercial outcome based on the product sales strategy and pricing goals. * Act as the first point of contact for IOC clients. * Support and, where delegated, lead quarterly negotiations and commercial discussions with delegated authority from the Vice President. * Draft, negotiate and execute contracts and commitment on behalf of IOC. * Liaise with clients on requirements, forward demand on quality and quantity. Provide feedback to IOC and Pilbara. * Identify and evaluate future market trends, sales threats and opportunities in the market. * Ensure that appropriate customer and competitor market intelligence systems are developed and maintained and communicated internally to sales, operations, customer support and scheduling teams. * Provide input into the sales and pricing strategy that deliver the outcomes required as part of both the short and long term commercial strategy. * Work with technical marketing in managing interactions with mine and operations on technical topics. * Assist sales team to market and increase sales of IOC and Pilbara products grades into the global market. Share the commercial position of sales team to clients, managing expectations including product quality. * Work with; Rio Tinto Commercial Singapore to align contracts and systems; Marine for freight and with Legal for terms and conditions.Present at conferences and industry forums on IOC sales matters and short term outlook, as required. New business development * Work with the Sales and Technical Marketing teams to help capture future demand opportunities for IOC products. * Undertake competitor analysis and identify opportunities * In collaboration with customers and the Sales teams, identify market opportunities and threats and respond in a timely manner. Required Skills: * High proficiency in English (verbal and written) Required Experience: * Strong experience in commercial activities, across selling and marketing of commodities * Experience in iron ore and iron and steel industry * Competent technical understanding of iron ore products * Understanding of current and future development of the iron and steel industry * A knowledge of iron ore suppliers/competitors, customers and other key stakeholders in the market * Experience in the formulation, development and implementation of commercial strategies * Demo
