What do our Probation Services Officers do? Our Probation Services Officers play a vital role in our Offender Management team, working directly with service users ranging from low to medium risk. You will manage your own caseload and be responsible for the delivery of individual and group based interventions to help the people we work with reintegrate back into society. This will involve assessing the needs and risks posed by service users, planning the supervision required to make sure they are actively engaged in the process and keeping accurate records in line with national standards so we can monitor their progress. What skills & qualifications will I need? You don't need a degree to be a Probation Services Officer; it's far more important to us that you can be a positive role model and work in partnership with others. You will need some previous experience of working with people who are experiencing difficulties to be successful in this role. You'll also need to prove that you're emotionally intelligent, resilient and calm under pressure: the kind of person who can build rapport quickly and de-escalate potentially volatile situations. Strong report-writing skills are also a must. What do we offer in return? We offer a competitive base salary between £22,039 + London weighting at £3,889 on top of that, depending on your level of experience within the probation service.
