The Analytics Center of Excellence The Analytics Center of Excellence (ACOE) team harnesses our global healthcare insights, working closely with our clinical and therapeutic experts to power evidence-driven design, speed site activation and recruit the right patients, faster. This is a new unit within our business, integrated within Clinical Operations. We're using big data, advanced analytics and novel technology to transform clinical development and bring new medicines to patients faster through successful trial delivery. This multi-function team is an innovation for our business, requiring entrepreneurial and independent thinking to build our capability. ML Specialist, NLP Focus - the role As an NLP specialist in the ACOE, you will leverage your creativity and machine learning expertise to help identify areas to apply advanced NLP solutions in different parts of the organization. Working closely with business stakeholders and internal product offerings staff, you will be involved in defining the scope of data science products and the internal analytics roadmap. You will also develop clear, concise communication strategies for explaining relevant machine learning and data science concepts to business stakeholders. Working with a diverse global team of data scientists and software developers using modern data science languages and tools, you will build prototypes and production quality software components that drive business value. For your project's specific business problem, you will leverage your deep expertise in machine learning to devise and implement suitable methodologies. You will demonstrate commitment to strong engineering by writing high-quality code and participating in the peer review process. You will be accountable for all aspects of your work, from data analysis and research, to KPI definition, testing and deployment. Continued involvement in the machine learning community is highly encouraged. You will have opportunities to stay up to date with and participate in the development of the state-of-the-art methods in NLP by attending conferences and publishing papers. You will also serve as a mentor and guide junior team members involved in advanced analytics activities and tasks. Our ideal candidate will have; * PhD or Masters degree in STEM related field (PhD preferred but not required) * Demonstrated expertise in NLP domain * Strong theoretical and hands-on experience with statistics and machine learning related techniques, tools, and methods * Extensive experience in programming languages (Python preferred) * The ability to read, understand, and explain to others, scientific papers on state-of-the-art machine learning and computer science, as well as the ability to prototype, evaluate and improve the ideas described * Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to communicate effectively to both technical and nontechnical audiences. * Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment with minimum supervision * Fluent in English, plus local language Bonus points for; * Familiar with client-server architecture and microservice architecture * Experience productionizing and maintaining ML-based automated solutions. * Good knowledge of design patterns and software engineering best practices * Healthcare domain experience * Experience with big data tools such as Spark, HDFS, Hive.
