Are you an ambitious DBA looking for a new challenge? The University of Nottingham is looking for a new member of the team to act as a MySQL DBA The University of Nottingham are looking to appoint a MySQL DBA within the Information Services department. The role is key in working within an established database support team across a range of applications and technologies. As part of our investment of IT your role is key in helping support some of our key technologies that will help drive of Digital Strategy supporting our global community of over 50,000 students and staff. Your Responsibilities As a member of the wider operations support team, you will play a key role within a wider database team, supporting the Senior MySQL DBA you will provide day to day support for MySQL Database environment as well as getting involved in projects where required. Working in an experienced team you will provide ongoing supporting for the database management for the University's complex MySQL database environment. Working closely with the Infrastructure and Applications team you will get the opportunity to develop your experience around database performance, configuration, development and maintenance as well as identifying opportunity for service improvements Core Skills * Experience in a System Analyst or Database Administration role within an enterprise environment ideally with good knowledge of MySQL * Excellent troubleshooting skills * Knowledge of SQL and Oracle would be advantageous as well as the ability to work across a range of technologies and applications in support MySQL * Basic Linux system administration and scripting experience Communication * You will be a self-motivated and dynamic individual who is able to be adaptable, flexible and adjust to new situations and environments * Strong inter-personal and communication skills are essential, as is the ability to engage others through complex problem solving As an employer of choice, University of Nottingham offers an extensive benefits package including: * A competitive salary package of up to £40k depending on experience * 30 days leave up to 5 closure days plus bank holidays * Excellent average salary pension scheme * Extensive training and development opportunities * Please note that this includes providing standby on-call cover on a rota basis, for which you will receive additional standby payments and call-out payments Close date: Tuesday 16th June Please note virtual interviews will take place on Thursday 25th June For more information please contact Amanda Whicher 07703885634 Employment Type: ["FULL_TIME"]
