Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a person-focused midwife who wishes to rise to the challenge of leading a team providing safe and effective continuity of carer to a defined caseload of women. You must be at least a band 6 midwife with extensive community and intranatal experience, and have a passionate interest in providing physiological care in labour. The Royal Alexandra Hospital Community Maternity Unit provides community antenatal and postnatal care, plus intranatal care within the alongside midwife led birthing suite. You will be expected to contribute to the on-call service for home births, and therefore need to be a car driver You will carry 24 hours continuing responsibility for the unit and will provide clinical leadership to the midwifery team to: Ensure safe and effective clinical practice Enhance the woman's experience of care Manage and develop the performance of the team Contribute to the delivery of the objectives of the organisation Ensure Healthcare Associated Infections and key performance indicators are applied to all ward teams eg. hand hygiene audits, environmental ward audits, EIC/CAAS standards Ensure ongoing quality standards of treatment and care-giving Ensure the culture, values, behaviours and skills set within the clinical environment meet a consistently high standard. Ensure the promotion and implementation of the equality & diversity agenda. Ensure the implementation of the Inequality Sensitive Practice (ISP) and links with health inequalities are actioned and taken forward.
