Make a difference today! Are you a creative, organised and enthusiastic person? Could you use your skills to research and set up group activities and events for our local members? Our members really enjoy getting together having a good chat about all sorts of things over a cup of tea and a biscuit; they also like to invite speakers to come along to the meetings to provide them with helpful advice and information across a wide range of subjects and the group will from time to time arrange a trip out together usually 2-3 social outings each year to places of interest. How can you help?... Attending our local groups for a couple of hours once a month, you will be working with the group coordinators, leaders and members, organising fun and interesting events and activities for each meet up. The activities could range from sourcing a key note speaker to setting up a craft session; organising a group outing to a historical venue or planning a group visit to a show. You will need to source the equipment/information needed for the activities and assist during the meet ups to ensure the group is run as smoothly as possible for the benefit of our members. Get creative and inspire our members at their local group meet ups Our groups are hugely welcoming to any new faces and willing to join in a range of activities - sometimes the more creative the better!!! The level of sight and hearing loss varies from member to member and some members have restricted mobility. What will you get out of it? It's a direct way to make a difference to a deafblind person's life You will be supporting a great cause, while giving something back to your community You will build a new friendship and have the opportunities to learn new skills We will offer you full training, support and guidance throughout your volunteering experience with Deafblind UK Reimbursement of out of pocket expenses such as mileage or public transport costs. Qualities and Skills we are looking for: * We are looking for enthusiastic and reliable Volunteers * Good communication skills, particularly with regard to conversational skills * To be reliable and have a genuine interest to make a difference in lives of deafblind people * Patience and a warm and friendly attitude What will we ask for in return? A regular commitment of one weekly visit - usually 1-3 hours We will need to undertake two references and a DBS check before this role can start You will need to be over the age of 18 years to apply for this role Yes this is for me.....How do I apply?
